Like and Subscribe ► I've scoured the web and seen nobody talk about this, I accidentally stumbled upon it while looking over the mission in the Halo Prima Strategy Guide while planning forge remakes of Halo: Combat Evolved missions. This potentially cut vehicle spawn from Halo's Assault on the Control Room mission is truly an oddity, it makes me wonder why anyone would put a vehicle in this section, and if it truly was in the mission before removal. It also makes me wonder if this cut banshee was ever even in game, and if not, why the book speaks of it.

There was a banshee. The vengeful vandam did a video on pre release halo ce. The banshee was there and elites (Or one elite) rushed to drive it first.

What’s also interesting is that you can, in fact, take the banshees into the halls

This scenario exists again later, further in to the mission when it transitions to snow canyons.

Oh wow I remember seeing that note in the guide when I was a kid and being convinced there was some kind of secret banshee hidden at the start of the level. I must've spent an hour or more jumping around and restarting the level trying to get it to appear. Man thanks for pulling that memory out of the back my brain lol

Halo CE Build 1749 actually has the banshees as depicted in this room! The physics are janky but there were banshees at one point.

At the back of the original copy there is a image of a banshee being piloted at the mission: Silent Cartographer. Tragic to not see it in the final release.

Never tell a halo fan they “can’t take a vehicle” anywhere. There is no force more unstoppable than a Halo player trying to squeeze literally any vehicle where it does not belong for the sheer hell of it.

Wonder if theres any builds of this. I know that if you fly a banshee down the bottom itll slingshot up.

I haven't seen anyone talk about it either, but you can get back into the pelican at the start of that very same mission if you're fast enough and you can ride it out to an otherwise unreachable room. The Pelican will flip there will be a random dead grunt in there as well with no way out. Edit: Let me reiterate. "I" haven't seen anything about it. I'm sure there's plenty of stuff on it, but I, as in me, haven't seen any lol

I see people mentioning the Banshee later, which probably replaced this opening mission idea, but what I haven't seen is people mentioning the game case art on the back showing a Banshee on the Silent Cartographer mission. It is depicted flying, by the player, attacking Covenant by the entrance to the map room section (the location you have to visit twice in the mission).
  • I remember sucessfully hijacking a banshee in that mission even though you are only supposed to get it on Two Betrayals

I believe this sequence of rushing to the Banshee before the Elite was pushed to later in the mission when you cross that bridge in front of the control room. There's a lot more space, a dogfight with another Banshee, and the opportunity to skip a portion of the mission.

Reminds me how the OG xbox release of CE didn't have the rocket hog, banshee, flamethrower, or fuel rod gun in multiplayer. They were all added with Gearbox's PC port, along with a bunch of multiplayer maps.

Probably figured it would confuse people into not going through the door.

It's so cool how you used to get game guides with the disk back in the day.

“you can’t take it into the hal-“ halo vets: hold my beer

IIRC in the Xbox version of CE, the Banshee wasn't flyable in multiplayer, but it (and the fuel rod cannon) were useable in the version that they released on PC.
