PIRATES 2006 - Emerson, Lake, and Palmer (ELP) - (pls see 2018 ver on YouTube)

Published 2013-11-26
This is my version of EL&P classic "Commissioned" by Keith Emerson and loved by Greg Lake -- "Brilliant!" Quote Greg "Brilliant" Quote Keith Emerson. Carl has yet to state an opinion.
This is video parody of other so called music videos (see below). Pirates video originally created in the early '90s. I hope you enjoy the humorous elements within. This is the updated version from 2011 that was inspired by Keith Emerson's love of the first, but primitive video. This video incorporates three different live concert performances of Pirates by Emerson, Lake & Palmer (ELP). Unlike most ambiguous music videos, these images were used to directly reflect - word for word-the incredibly visual lyrics of Peter Sinfield and Greg Lake. Unlike most music videos that never represent the sentiments of the lyrics. "Pirates" is the antithesis to that pattern of pablum. "What you hear is what you see". A video that does justice to the lyrics with a few winks. Keith Emerson wrote this lush and beautiful music originally for the soundtrack of a cancelled film version of Frederick Forsyth's book The Dogs of War. This version of "Pirates" is from the Manticore box set. This version had the cannon shots that come alive in this video.
As usual: the dreaded DISCLAIMER: This parody consists of music, video and images that are copyright of their respective owners and are strictly used here on YouTube and in your homes for fun, yes fun and educational purposes and for ELP and their use.

This and other music videos produced by Sacred Cow are created as a hobby for the enjoyment of fellow ELP fanatics and various humans around the world to whom this video is dedicated.
Addenda; dedicated to Keith and Greg. Requiem In Pacem.

The "Treasure Island", "Against All Flags" and "Pirates of the Caribbean" clips are easy to spot. My favorite Emerson, Lake, and Palmer song ever! I used to sing it to myself on deployments in the Army. :)

I''ve always imagined making a video from clips for Pirates much like this. Now I don't have to. Nice work!
  • Tremendous work! So far, the Timescapes Video of "Closer to believing" has been my favorite... now it's THIS one. Hoping for more...

There is an effort starting to try and get Emerson Lake & Palmer nominated into Rock & Roll Hall of Fame this year (2018; induction in 2019). Write a letter to RRHOF Nominating Committee (NC), describing how their music influenced you, if you want to help get them nominated! Here is NC mailing info. And, PLEASE, share HOF NC info on your own social media page(s) (FB, twitter, etc) and explain what readers should do!!!! Thanks!!!! I heard a rumor years ago that this song was originally meant to be in a film or play. Any truth? What's the reality?
