I notice the fuse has been wired with mains cable , so I wonder if someone in the past used the fuse as a makeshift anti theft device . I'm a retired auto sparky , and believe me , I've seen it all .😃
  • @Bigchaser01327
This video is good example of amature mechanic troubleshooting by components, obviously sponsored by Carly.
  • @Antonia.Bradley
Hi, the fuse you showed connected to the mains cable with two blue spade connectors is an anti theft system installed by a previous owner I believe. I have something similar on my van. I believe you will find that the wire in question goes to the fuel pump control module located under the drivers seat. It should connect to the wire leading to the fuel pump from the fuel pump control module… Not to power to the module but from module to pump. I used a hidden switch on my van, but he obviously used a fuse. Why the fuse blew however is not known. But removing said fuse prevents the pump running and saves the van from being nicked.
The fuel pump module is located in the seat base afixed to the right side wall. Good luck.

Ps Years ago before electronics in car we fitted immobilisers. Hidden switch 2 pole. One pole switched fuel gauge off. Second pole the fuel pump. So if they broke in and bypassed the ignition switch it wouldnt start and shown no fuel.in tank. George

Neil you have the patience of a saint. If I can’t fix my van in ten mins I want to set it on fire 😂 great find that fuse! Always an entertaining watch 👍🏻👍🏻
  • @LeisureBit
Sorry to hear you needed recovering and had to spend on the pump unnecessarily- Looks like it may have been for some anti-theft system at some point at a guess. All the best, David 👍
  • Love how your dad still gets stuck in helping ❤ great video as usual and will defo look at the Carly as like Eva, Syna likes not to throw a code that even Supposed , QUALIFIED mechanics can't solve. Thanks for the the part for Syna by the way Isaac was very grateful. Not bad for an "amateur" mechanic helping diagnose our problem thanks buddy ❤
  • Great video 👍 sorry you got the run around, but I guess when you are going to drop the tank your figured well maybe I should get the part . Frustrating thanks for sharing,it will help others thank you well done 👍👍👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🇬🇧🇨🇦🦢

You definitely make some of the most thought-provoking and greatly appreciated informative videos! So sad for your extra cost, but like you said, it had to be done sooner or later. Great job! (I knew if anyone could, you could definitely figure it out!)
  • @davec5209
On another Youtube (SR) repairer they mentioned vehicles that some Hire/Rental vehicles can have remote trackers and remote immobilisers fitted so the company can control the whereabouts their vehicle at anytime. The Youtuber took out what wiring he could find, so maybe this is the final wire the locks the electrics replaced with a fuse to complete the circuit. ANOTHER SHOCKER FROM COPART SALVAGE AUCTION @15:22
  • @ipirrie6734
First thing you should have done before spending all that money is check 12v supply to the pump. Basic fault finding rather than changing parts willy nilly. That's what you'd pay a garage to do. ...lol
  • @billy140572
My brother was dealing with exactly the same issue and it turned out the ecu was damaged and the immobiliser was constantly on, still isn't fixed as the automotive electrician needs to clone a new ecu, we did put a temporary fix in place having a switched live ( done through a relay) so he just hits the switch to turn on the pump then starts the engine, glad yours is now working but would it be possible to put a switch in one of the wires with the mystery fuse and hide it so you can add a bit more security with a kill switch.
  • @Vantastic-times
I feel your pain Neil me an the wife had to change our fuel sender in our Renault, but couldn't get the tank out from under the van and had to do the dam job under the van ,,glad to see you got it all sorted ,,,,, hopefully we catch up with you and have a beer at some point 🍺
  • @AXISUK
Felt your pain when you said it was that fuse 🤦🏻 9 time out of 10 it’s always something simple but random 🤣
  • @johneaston1215
Looks like someone has had problems with immobiliser, and it's disabled fuel pump, and why did the fuse blow,??
  • Ebay tayna batteries next day yes they do come next day used them for years simply the best
