Real Scams: Foreign Lottery/Sweepstakes

This is a reenactment of a foreign lottery scam that costs US consumers over $100 million a year. The Better Business Bureau (BBB) created this video to educate and help protect consumers from being victims of this scam.

  • The real Publishers Clearing House will never call you up. They will stop by your address with a big check, camera crew, and balloons.

    I've experience something like this and it was legitimate. However, I can agree that some are frauds. Just got to be on the look out.
  • I got scammed out of $500 dollars a week ago in one of these scams. At LEAST it wasn’t more PRAISE GOD!!!

  • If the woman was smart, she would of waited a week or so until the check cleared her bank. If the scam artist told her to send them back a check right away through Western Union, she should of told them I'm waiting for your check to clear my bank first. I'm not in a rush to get my lottery winnings. Hold your horses.😛

    I used to receive those type of letters while living in US then UK.Now living in Portugal get none of those. Lottery "FREE" money givers must be racist!
  • She should have waited until the check cleared and tell the person on the phone that she will not send the money until the check cleared I am 67 and know better than that you have to buy a ticket to play the lottery and any other game
