In this week’s video I thought I would try the new granulating watercolours by Kuretake. I found this set on Amazon last week and I thought they would be intresting to try on my channel. I have used Gansi paint for a few years now and really enjoy them. From the images online they looked like a very unique set with lots of texture and variation.

For the demo in this video I thought I would paint some Sea creatures with the colour called Arara orange as It reminded me of seaweed. Over all I am very happy with the paints even though I was a little sceptical at first. They are unique and unlike any other paints in my collection. I hope you find this video informative and it helps you decide if these are the right paints for you.

If you are curious I managed to pick mine up from amazon Uk for around £20.

Materials I used in this video

  • This is the BEST example of using this particular palette on the internet. Outstanding work!

I’ve NEVER heard of these types of paints before. I am FLOORED at how the final product came out!
  • Your paintings are what makes the paints look good. When I looked at the swatches, they seemed like any other of their kind. I too felt irritated with there only being five in the box. Leaving an empty pan and claiming it is there as a palette. The only thing I believe made the paints shine is your artistic skill and the vision you had in your theme. Someone beginning their journey like me may only feel frustration trying to work out how best to use them. I love Kuretake as a rule and have a few sets, but this set isn’t for me I think. Thanks for a wonderful and insightful video though. 👩🏻‍🎨🎨🖌️
  • This is probably one of the coolest paintings I've seen anyone do in a while! I watch a LOT of videos for painting too. This looks like you painted sea animals in oxidized copper. My suggestion for a sea animal to add to this spread is a lionfish. They're an invasive species, unfortunately, but they are BEAUTIFUL. I'd love to see what these paints would do on one.

😂 wow so I started this video HATING those colors, I was like “what is this mud?!” Then they did that weird splashy vivid stuff when they dried… and I was intrigued. THEN your sea creatures made me GASP and I found myself filled with wonder… I’ve about run the gamut of human emotions during this short twenty minute video! I think these colors are way too unpredictable for my taste but your idea of doing something monochromatic really lends itself well to these paints. You’re a brave soul, delving into such uncertain territory! And your artwork is beautiful ❤ thanks for sharing!!

Oh wow, those colors were not what I was expecting! I kind of want to try using paints like this. It kind of forces you to give up control, which is something I appreciate about them. Also, loving the Gerudo music. I immediately got all giddy when I heard the opening music. 😂

The dried, end-result reminds me so much of a bronze patina.
  • @moonowlstudio
I would have never guessed those illustrations were made with one color, they look so good!!

relaxing Zelda music plus granulated wc painting T-T
  • @Grassless24
The swatches look like slices of interesting radishes

That green copper mix is BANGING wow I love em

It is really great to see the granulating Kuretake set used by different artists. The empty pan would have been perfect for your monochromatic use. Other painters have thought that each color needed its own empty mixing pan. Maybe the empty pan is to emphasize the importance of mixing with water first instead of using straight from the pan. I agree that the packaging does feel like you are missing a color.

Your work is so gorgeous! Which is all the more impressive given these paints look so frustrating to work with due to that intense color shift! So glad the algorithm decided to drop you in my feed 😁💜
  • Gorgeous artwork! Your design really made the best of the paint. Just beautiful.
  • Beautiful artwork - you got better results than I did. I think I will go back and test them again. I painted a seahorse using these paints and it turned out really well. These paints certainly suit underwater creatures. Lovely video, thank you. 🙏💜
  • @dreubug
Wow! Those dried swatches shocked me! Awesome video ❤

the geurudo valley music while painting fish is taking me back to majoras mask lmao. beautiful work!
