A slight difference between coming to an end of a contract and it not being renewed, and being 'sacked'.

I've no idea why Mark Lawrenson would think that a Labour government would change the funding model of the BBC.

He was well past his sell by date, and he basically sounded bored and phoned in his commentaries for about ten years or so. He had a good innings and earned a good living. Shame his shocking lack of self awareness prevented him from moving on gracefully.

Wrong colour wrong sexuality wrong age. People are starting to stand up to this madness in ireland. This needs to happen everywhere.

In all fairness, Lawrenson did great work at the BBC but was defo kept on longer than he should have been. The amount of complaints of how bored and uninterested he sounded in later years was a demonstration of how bad he got at the job. Just because you've been there years doesn't mean your standards should drop.

Just to clarify as some people have already said you are only required to have a TV licence by Law if you watch live TV on any channel as its been broadcast including BBC iplayer. If you watch TV on demand for example on Netflix, Amazon or any other streaming service that you basically go through a library of programs to watch and gives you the ability to choose a time to play a program at your convenience then you do not require a TV licence by Law. Also you are not legally required by Law to respond to any letters from TV licencing, it is your choice to reply out of courtesy. If anyone from TV licencing pays you a visit at your door then you are not obligated to speak to them or answer their questions, it is your choice. You can simply say No thank you I'm not interested and shut the door, or not answer at all.

1 day we as a people will look back and say "what have we allowed?" and it will be too late - so sad
  • @jameslowe2979
I really can't see Labour changing the way the BBC is funded.
  • @bobsingeton2719
So, not sacked then... just a case of not having his contract renewed. Something the BBC should have done many years ago.

This is the man who got paid by our licence fee money to say that the best moment of the world cup was England going out. So pleased when he was sacked...it was the best moment of his career IMO😊
  • Football Focus is no longer about football, last week they had a feature about a Non Binary football team
  • @alanmayes851
I never used to miss Football Focus or Match of the Day, I have not watched either for 15 years or intend to ever again.
  • @markwhyte7822
Like he said , 25 years is a 'good run'. In my opinion he was crap as a pundit.
  • @kennyw218
