DO THIS and Your Cat Will Start Loving Sitting on Your Lap

My cat has never sat on any of our laps, he loves us, we get the blinks and he'll reach a paw out but he will never sit on our laps, it's been 10 years. Some cats never will and that's fine.

Spend time with them, Play and interact, make it daily, Something as little as pulling a shoe string around for them to catch can make all difference. Make them a part of of your life as well as they are part of as yours.

My kitty loves to sit near me. She'll crawl over my lap and cuddle up about a foot away. Then blinks at me to let me know she want pets. She also sleeps by my head, she has a cozy spot with soft blankets on my night stand by my head. She will sit on my husband's lap and my son's lap, even my daughter's but not mine. But always sleeps with me. I just let her be where she is comfortable to rest. When she wants pets and cuddles she drops by my feet and rolls over to show me her belly and let the cuddles begin.❤ I've just learned to let her have her space and never turn her away when she asks for cuddles. I will drop what I'm doing and give her a little attention. I want her to know that she is special and important in our family so i don't push her away. If I'm in a hurry i will giver her a quick cuddle and when i get back i will go directly to her to let her know she wasn't forgotten. I am a sucker for a kitty pet session. 😂

My first cat was a lap cat & loved belly rub. He passed from cancer (RIP). My current cat is not a lap cat & is more wild/ agressive - she was am adult stray & has a hard past. I love them both.

I see these videos and I find them very educational. I grew up around cats and dogs,but cats would almost always walk up to me,even stray cats would walk right up to me and I would kneel down and talk to them. I would even at times give stray cats a treat like a can of wet cat food and when they see me the next day they would in there own way say hello to me.

I've always separated lap sitting from cuddling. When I sit and read, I don't have to cuddle with the cat sleeping in my lap. I find cats like the warmth of a lap and when they know that getting a cuddle will be their decision and not mine, they are far more likely to seek out the warmth of my lap for a good sleep. I had a cat that liked the same chair I favoured for reading. The cat would be sleeping with its paw over its snout and I could gently put my hands under the cat, lift him and put him in my lap after I had sat down. He wouldn't even lift his paw from his snout during the operation and once we were settled, he would squeeze his paw into his snout as if to say; don't bother me, I'm sleeping.

Our cat came from a hoarding situation and was 2 years old when we got her. It took another 2 years of being calm and supportive of her, for her to trust enough to be a lap cat. Now she will come right up to you and just flop on top of you.

My cat would jump on my lap (not everyday) when I am sitting in my favourite chair. Then go through the head butt, head rub and greeting ritual. Once done she will cuddle up in the crook of my arm and present her tummy for a soft, slow and gentle massage. Her making air biscuits is the sign of happiness. Sometimes she would purr loudly while staring into my eyes and maybe drag my hand with a semi clawed paw to the exact spot to cuddle. Our great cuddle time is actually early morning before I get out of bed. This can last from anything like 5 minutes to half an hour, but she wants full attention. No mobile phone checking, no coffee drinking...

I have four cats. Only one likes laps. The others prefer to sit next to me. However, two others will lay on me when I am lying down in bed. The only one who totally doesn't want to cuddle with me is my only boy. He prefers my son. Cats are very individualistic. I never try to make them do anything.

My cat loves to sit or lie by my hip. I accept him for his autonomy and preference. Hip to hip is hip.

how do I get them off my lap?

My Ragdoll cat cuddles up on my knee regularly! He also curls up against my legs in bed at night.

I’ve had over 30 cats. I’m 71, usually 4 to 6 at a time, good advice. Most kids need actual education and training on how to do pets ….just like this. Personally I’m not in to a cat on my lap. On the bed at sleep time is better….until the run across you finding your solar plexus everytime or feet for each nipple followed by back feet.

These are all good advice but none of them guarantee the lap sitting to happen. Cats have different personalities. My previous cat likes to sit on my lap but not the current one, who sleeps with me but doesn’t come to my lap. It’s ok.

I have a few lap cats.

It's pretty simple, just turn down the thermostat, at 67 degrees my cat is begging to sit on a nice warm lap, anything warmer say 68-70 and he prefers a nice chair or the floor.

hi we have had siamese all our married lives but we lost our pets two years ago, then we thought our lives becames so lonely , so yes we thought we would get two more so we thought we would get two more different ones , so we got two brothers who are half siamese half Bengal and my gosh they are wild ,when we got them they were about 18 weeks old , and are indoor , but they get the zoomies twice a day and absolutely run up the curtain’s run around the house love the climb ontop of the wardrobes , one will love to be petted the other no not for me they are a year old now . how do we progress now please ?

Keats used to walk on my lap too long for my taste. I'd say in a stern voice "lay down". Within no time at all he learned and obeyed the command. He would lay down immediately. rip
