In this video fellow gamedev MistTree challenged me to a game development challenge where both of us would have 24 hours to create a game from scratch following a theme. After the time was up our games would be judged, and the winner would win one whole cent. Crazy I know.

Thanks to the judges N8Dev and Vimlark

About me:
Hey, I'm BenBonk, an indie game developer who uses the Unity Engine. I've made and released many small games before on my itch page, though now I'm attempting to make my first commercial game, Slimekeep. Slimekeep is a roguelike, using a very limited color palette, similar to Enter the Gungeon, though with a few interesting mechanics, such as keeping slimes alive longer will earn you more money, and the ability to capture slimes to power up your slime pet. If you enjoyed anything you saw, please consider subscribing, as it really helps me out.

Cant wait for the 2 cent competition (Though, realistically, that would be too expensive)

Theme: death is only the beginning Benbonk: makes Elden Ring

The game idea sort of reminds me of this game called "Checkpoint" where in many of it's levels you had to die to progress for example dying so you can walk over your dead body and avoid spikes
  • I love the high quality of this series and how the team behind it is willing to give away more prize money than any other competition game show. Edit: wow thanks for the likes

Fun game! Excellent for 24 hours! Seizure Bug Warning: Don't dash right in the code input room, though. You can break the game and if you keep dashing around you can cause the screen to start flashing enough to trigger seizures.

I think the post processing added a lot of style to game, made me realise the importance of post processing. Nice job great video

I was SO nervous in the call, my voice was shaking and it's really embarrassing lol. edit: I would like to (humbly) request slime god in the server for my efforts.
  • Yoo, this is actually a good game! Just gave it a try, the concept is great

I woulda made it a platforming game where after you die, your corpse stays there and you can jump off it, push it, and throw it around, probably to let you make it to specific spots or hit some stuff

I remember playing some game where you would climb a tower and the only way to get to the top was to die and then the next generation would have to use the body to progress, though I don’t remember what it was called and this theme reminded me of it
  • I tried your game and softlocked myself after dashing to far into the black void
