  • It's like how the lego movie scanned actual legos. Using modern digital resources and scanning practical props to make a best of both worlds product.

Shoutout if you remember Clay Fighters or Neverhood. I will grant - this looks a LOT cooler and sounds like a lot less work then what they had to do for those two games, though. It's kind of baller.

A game called The Dream Machine did the full stop motion vibe. Used all kind of stuff like cardboard and the like for backgrounds. Works pretty well for it, but I liked this animation Style for Harold Halibut

Men I know it’s kinda sad, but when I was skimming through my subscriptions and randomly saw the word “Halibut” next to dodger’s picture I thought this would be about Totalbiscuit for like a tenth of a second. Or that he was still alive or something. It’s weird.

I'll watch for it to go on sale, dodger has good taste in games

I'd love to hear y'all's thoughts on Hylics/Hylics 2. They've got my favorite use of claymation in a game. Super weird, super wacky, and a really fitting soundtrack to boot. The movement definitely isn't as smooth or fluid as that computer-assisted stuff (which looks great), but I think it works well for Hylics

The last time I saw a video game with such a unique artstyle was Cuphead.

I loved Harold Halibut. Played it on Game Pass and it’s such an intriguing story.
  • Yeah, so why isn’t this titled “How was Harold Halibut made?”
  • @Hopefighter
if you like the vibe of Harold Halibut do try out 'Trüberbrook'

Magic & Mayhem was a RTS that used Claymation for the models and animations. Very charming. But awful FPS because it's Claymation. If someone remastered the game (and somehow had access to the original clay models), that scan and digital animation could be an awesome solution to the fps problem.

Dodger crossing over with one of the other retired egirls from her era is a weird feeling
  • @Len923_
Bots being bots again in here ... and yeah, the art style does look rather unique.
