Inside Out 2 was a massive hit when it finally premiered in theaters. Old and new fans filled the audience in droves, prepared to witness another animated adventure full of heartfelt and positive messages about embracing one’s emotions, even the ones that seem antagonistic. The film explores what it’s like to experience changes as a young teen and how emotions like anxiety, embarrassment, and envy can make transition periods particularly difficult. Throughout the film, Riley loses connection with some of her core emotions as they’re forced out from headquarters. Although they do everything they can to get back and eventually succeed, there are a few moments in the story when all hope seems lost.
