Fun fact: ISIS was so extremist that even the Taliban found them repulsive, considered them enemies and terrorists

In 2014, in Aleppo my brother was kidnapped during his way to the university.....the reason is because he is studying in a university that doesn't apply their terrorist ideology and doesn't separate men and women.....i thought i lost him for good because they were known for their extreme terrorism, you cant imagine how much i cried.....but by a God's miracle he came back to us

Unless you were around on the Internet to see all the awful videos ISIS liked to post you’ll never truly understand how terrifying and demented they were. I honestly can’t even believe it was so easy for me to see that stuff as a literal child on the internet. They made people’s worst nightmares come true for no reason at all.

This video missed the fact that ISIS suddenly became a major military force bc of Paul Bremer's decision to have pretty much the entire Iraqi military disbanded after the defeat of Saddam, causing 400,000 soldiers to suddenly become unemployed. Many of these Iraqi soldiers then found employment in ISIS out of convenience, creating a formidable military force that law enforcement couldn't deal with.

I went to Syria back in February (right around the time of the earthquake in Turkey) this year and the areas outside Damascus are still destroyed. So sad to see because I absolutely loved my visit and would go back anytime. Most Syrians are so welcoming and lovely

My classmate in high school was Mohamed Mohamud, who attempted to car bomb a Christmas tree lighting back in 2010. what's crazy is he was a totally normal kid and fit in just fine. you just never know what people might be up to behind closed doors. i even saw him at the mall on black Friday the night before his attempt and my whole group of friends including myself dapped him up.

Interesting is that the Taliban in Afghanistan and ISIS's branch there are bitter rivals. While both want to establish the rule of strict Islam, the difference is that the Taliban are only interested to impose it in Afghanistan in a civil manner, whereas ISIS wants to establish a global caliph based on terror. Their flags are inverses of each other to differentiate; white Taliban flag vs black ISIS flag.

My friend's dad died fighting ISIS in Syria when Iran decided to send troops to help in Syria. Even my dad was gonna get deployed. It's crazy how almost everyone were affected by this war.

I remember when they were so confident in their conquests that they had plans to go all the way to Spain to revive the Islamic caliphate there. Within weeks after publicizing that, they went downhill real quick.

You overlooked the siege of Marawi in the Philippines involving ISIS militants vs Filipino troops in 2017. At first, the Filipinos struggled until they put wood and/or cardboard on the metal armor of their APCs to keep the soldiers safe from the RPG-2s.

I had family in Sri Lanka who died. Honestly I can't imagine why people do things like this.

There's a big difference between dying pretty quickly in an airstrike, even if it's an unfortunate missed strike, and being terrorized by watching them douse ur cage in gas then being burnt to death in it.

I was a teenager in Turkey, back when they were targeting Turkey and nearby countries right and left. I cannot really explain just how terrifying ISIS is to people who never got used to turning on the news to another terror attack. I’m now in my 20s, working in an international environment. 3 days until the new year’s and everyone around us Turks are talking about which club or fancy restaurant to celebrate the new year’s, meanwhile even almost 7 years later, we are still terrified of a maniac yet again coming in and repeating the events of 2017. We still celebrate the new years or other holidays, nearly all the country does—if we stopped celebrating then it would mean them achieving their goals. But… well, even at a different, relatively safer country, we always look behind our shoulders whenever we are in a crowded area. At such young ages we have learned how to spot a possible bomber, shooter etc. It’s literally impossible to feel safe, wherever we go and it will be this way for a good while. Terrorism has taken a lot, too much from us. May the lost ones rest in peace. You will be remembered. ❤

funny story. before me and my wife were married, when i was home on my day off an FBI agent came to the door, and asked if my wife was home by name. She was at work. So naturally I had some questions. The agent told me she was on an isis hit list, and he's required to go around to everyone on the list and tell them about it. He was legit, badge, suit, all that. Nothing ever came of it, or anyone who happened to be on the list of course, but a very strange encounter.
