Hey I just want to make an important clarification because most people know who Picasso is but they don’t know much about why he painted the way he did. Picasso wasn’t a bad classical painter, he in fact was a prodigy at a very young age, and he had mastered all the painting styles of the era in his youth. This guy could’ve made a fortune making fakes of other famous painters such as Diego Velazquez and most people wouldn’t even know it. However, due to the increasing availability of photography there was no longer a need to represent the physical world as it was. Instead, artists were eager to create new styles that could represent the new ideas of the 20th century. Picasso was at the forefront of the new movements, pioneering new styles and innovating. That’s what makes him special.
  • Showing Chum a Picasso is like explaining the theory of relativity to him. Show him some Jordans and he’ll tell you how many stitches are on the toe box.

I remember a story about Picasso. An upscale couple in NY commissioned Pablo to paint a mural on a wall in their NYC dweling. They let him stay at their home for a month or more as they traveled. Pablo threw parties at the home the entire time and just before the owners were to returm he just got a gallon of paint and painted the wall white and just signed his name to it.

I never understand why people would take a Picasso piece to a pawn shop. That’s like taking my Mona Lisa to a garage sale
  • So now Rick wants to talk privately to Chumlee. The camera man follows😆

All the gesturing and hand waving around the Picasso vase is freaking me out!
  • @jonjones7665
I like how the Owl vase assessor pulls out his gloves to handle the vase after the guy has hauled it down to the shop virtually tucked under his arm… ha ha.
  • @3ricsmind
“Chum, go somewhere to talk in private” … Walks 3 steps away from seller 💀💀
  • @myliza700
Rick’s heavy huffing stresses me out every time 😂 WHY ARE YOU BREATHING LIKE THAT
  • @cindyrissal3628
It amazes me that domebody would take a major art piece like that to a pawn shop. It should be taken to a gallery...
  • @artmiller2341
Isn't it amazing how Rick knows everything about everything and has a guy in every single field.
  • @jamesfair9751
The Picasso vase $17k good lord Rick really stole that one !!!
  • @ogmisfit
Let me call an expert so I can low ball you!! LMAO 🤣🤣

It's interesting that the book, Lysistrata, was a version by Gilbert Seldes, who was an American, but lived in Paris the same time as Picasso.
