A fierce storm system swept through the Baltic region overnight, leaving a trail of destruction across Lithuania and Latvia. One fatality was reported, and approximately 200,000 households were plunged into darkness due to widespread power outages.

    Many of those cars floating will have serious power problems but if they are hidden / temporarily eliminated, those cars would be on sale - for the nuisance for their next owners...

    I'm from Riga, Latvia. It begun to rain in Sunday afternoon until about same time Monday. During the night in Imanta district it felt like it is raining not cats and dogs, but cows and elephants. I heard in my rented apartment in Imanta how somebodies roofing flew away near by.

    Живу в Юрмале. Вода дошла до домов. Деревья повалены. Наводнение! Вовремя не прочищенные дренажные канавы затоплены. Городская власть должна ответить за это и ответит !

    Worst hit in Latvia were Jelgava (unprecedented floods) and Ķemeri and Kauguri in Jūrmala (violent storms, uprooted trees). The rest was spared.. more or less.

    Накручивают. В Юрмале например. В прошлые годы шторма и дюны смывало полностью палатки сносило и переворачиваю. СЕЙЧАС ЭТОГО НЕТ. ДА В РИГЕ ПОВАЛЕННЫЕ ДЕРЕВЬЯ, ПЕРЕБОИ С ТРАНСПОРТОМ, А ЧТО ВЫ ХОТЕЛИ. НЕТ НАГНЕТАЮТ РАДИ ДЕШЁВОЙ ПОПУЛЯРНОСТИ КАНАЛА.

    Пострадала Елгава,затопило,Каугури уничтожен сосновый парк,в Юрмале все побережье получило ущерб,природа покуражилась

    Nothing very unusual. Simply younger persons haven't seen anything like this before. Big storm of 1969 in Latvia was much harsher and more damage. Other countries all over the world experience such storms several times in a row every year. P.S. The cause of flooding is poor sewage system which is not suitable for such amount of water.

    Я живу в Даугавпилсе, нас слава богу пронесло, завалов, наводнения нет, разрушений тоже нет, поднялся уровень воды в Даугаве не много и на этом пожалуй всё.
