Biden: Prisoners' 'brutal ordeal' is over after major prisoner swap

Joe Biden has welcomed a prisoner swap which saw the Wall Street Journal reporter Evan Gershkovich released from a Russian prison.

The US president hit out at the detainment of the individuals and thanked Germany for making "significant concessions" to allow the swap to take place by releasing a Russian hitman.

In the biggest such exchange since the Cold War, two dozen people individuals were freed including British citizen Vladimir Kara-Murza.
