When tempted by food you love “Wait until tomorrow” is so much easier than “I can never eat this again because I’m counting calories”.

if you're going to Good Morning America to get your advice on anything you are in deep trouble
  • "it's not good for people who like snacking and grazing" Yeah I believe that's the reason you're in this mess in the first place
  • @tc6028
Yes. It’s so dangerous it’s causing me to not have any health issues…or be on meds..🙃
  • Something that you don't understand unless you are actually doing it is that when you alternate day fast, it gets hard to force yourself to eat as much as you use to eat because you feel full so much more quickly

When the comment section is more informed and intelligent than the reporting... 😂
  • It's very liberating to not have to think about food, meal planning, cooking 3 days a week. Really

I have been doing True ADF “zero calories on my fast day” for 2.5 months. I have tried lots of diets and always give up on them. This is the first thing I have done that I feel can be a permanent lifestyle.

What the video failed to mention is that while both alternate day fasting and daily calorie restricting groups lost the same amount of weight, the alternate day fasting group lost more FAT and retained more lean muscle mass but the calorie restriction group lost more muscle mass and lowered their resting metabolic rate. Fasting also has the benefits associated with autophagy (cellular cleaning, longevity etc). Many more benefits to fasting than simply weight loss (like overall FAT loss and living longer!)

This diet works and is sustainable. Just another attempt to hurt IF
  • I just feel so much better and my digestion is so much better when I eat every other day. I’m going to stick with ADF.

A true fast is no calories! Period! None of this on "fasting days" you eat 500 calories....Actually, it's much easier to just go without food for one day than to torture yourself with any 500 calorie meal....

Their study didn’t mention the benefits of autophagy and using stored fat as energy when fasting. This is the problem with folks on tv who doesn’t do their own research. Good Morning America staffers are clueless about diet and nutrition.

So where was the fasting? ...it's not fasting if you're eating 400 calories.

Trendy? Using ads to trick people into thinking a candy bar (protein bar) will help them get healthy that's the issue. In 2 weeks I've lost 15 lbs that never move when I was "eating less and moving move" I'm not tired my craving are gone and my skin is glowing, and I'm actually motivated to continue because I see the results on the scale and I feel the energy.
  • I've been overweight since childhood and have tried many types of diets with no succes. I'm doing ADF for 37 days now and I have lost 16 pounds so far. The weight loss is steady, my energy level is up and I'm getting constant compliments about how good I look. It makes me so sad I did not learn about ADF much earlier in my life. I feel like it's changing my life for the better.

Where’s the “danger?” Pointing out it is no more effective than other forms of calorie restriction is perfectly fine. Saying that it’s harder for some to stick with is fine. Danger? That’s just a stupid salacious “click bait” comment and beneath you.

Im so glad to see all the comments defending fasting. Ive found of anything its significantly easier to stick With ADF than any other diet. normal dieting and counting calories had me obsessing and thinking about it constantly and frankly all the prep and logging and counting had me so obsessed with food it was tourturand. It took so much mental energy and i was never satisfied with meals, it burned me out so much i could never stick more than a few days. ADF however Is so much more sustainable. Its so freeing to just. Not have to think about it.

So it's just as effective as daily lower caloric intake diets? That's the point? So, I only have to suffer 3 days and then I can eat whatever the fuck I want on the weekend and still lose weight? Great.

This is a poor example of how IF is performed, we don't eat anything we want, you still have to eat healthy whIle in your feeding window.
