There needs to be a crossover episode where Wren teaches Adam CG effects and Adam teaches Wren a 1 day build

I'm not sure anybody is having more fun than Adam Savage, just like, in general.
  • @RobertKreegier
This seriously needs to be a regular show. Not just with Adam, either, but with all the old timers. We need to preserve their knowledge.

Man Wren looked like a little kid as some points he was so excited during this episode! Another great guest appearance, I hope someday I can look back on my career with as much enjoyment and excitement as Adam does!

"Not enough money to do it right, plenty of money to do it twice" As someone working in the advertising industry, this is so spot-on, great quote

Adam Savage fits in so well here, I hope he comes back often. He's got this whole vibe about him that gives me energy.

Adam Savage is a legend. It's amazing how he can talk about himself without sounding narcissistic or like a jerk. He's just too wholesome and has a level of excitement for things that few people likely even get to experience. I have a feeling he's one of those people that really just finds absolute joy in knowledge and in learning. You could tell him about programming concepts, VFX, or how to fix a door hinge and he'd look at you with the same genuine enthusiasm that he does everything. What an awesome guy.

When Adam is talking about how they would expose for that particular scene, the concept really hit me like a ton of bricks. I'm an amateur photographer and lately I've been getting into film photography, and I never really realized that all of these movies were, yeah, shot ON FILM... Us young-ish (28) people got to grow up with digital cameras and cellphones, and until you try to shoot on film you don't really realize how hard it actually is, compared to digital. Wow, just wow, what a great episode.

I love how Adam basically runs this episode by himself with his energy, knowledge, and storytelling experience.

7 minutes in, and my respect for the prequels has gone up exponentially.

You guys have shocked me. I worked on those same shots that Adam Savage worked on for Matrix Revolutions 18 years ago, and until today, I had no idea he was behind the practical side of the FX. I animated the lightning coming off of the Mjolner ship as it crashed through the gate and fell. I can add to the narrative here. We ended up replacing much of the ship in CGI, presumably because the model had more detail added in post production. There were also CGI sentinel(squiddy) robots added at the bottom of frame, being kicked up by the debris and crash. I was impressed with how convincing the blue lightning looked in how it lit up the smoke elements.

I feel like Adam Savage could talk for a week straight about literally any topic. He's awesome. 🥰
  • @danielwang2956
Sam's level of participation is that group project member everyone gets in college
  • I mean, the ship is still officially called "Mjolnir", it's nicknamed "the hammer". They call it both in the series.
  • @RikFTK
I love how Wren is asking all the questions and Sam is just sitting there in a continued state of being mindblown.

I love how with real fans, despite some disagreements with things like the script of the prequels, almost everyone agrees the work on the practical effects was absolute top notch. Personally I quite like the prequels, and I love the sets and models they did. And I love Adam's descriptions of how the set designers work in their own backstory to each prop or set model. You see similar depth of work with things like Blade Runner where the art department thought about the past use backstory of each item or building when designing it and it just adds so much nuance to the worldbuilding that's unspoken.
