We are all addicted to dopamine. Addiction is a symptom of deeper pain.
  • Man at 10 minutes you can tell Adam really was hitting on something deep at the core of the struggle, those fleeting glimpse into your early life, flashes of the real you, it's like coming back full circle to the beginning, having to go back to beginning to see what was lost, I've had very similar thoughts, especially now as I am 27 getting closer to 30 I tend to be more analytical with resurfacing old childhood feelings and memories I seemed to have forgotten. Great video Tom! Love it. Keep on moving ahead guys.

Adam!!!!! What you are saying here about addiction is 100% true. You said it so well. I have goosebumps - in every way, you hit the nail on the head and removed all ambiguity about the issue at hand

What you guys just explained around 12:10 About masking your insecurities/problems such as social anxiety with weed and alcohol is so true for me and many others. I remember the first time trying weed that I was able to have conversations I’ve never had before with the person that I would have never imagined even saying hi to. Just from that experience I think it engraved my brain to be dependant on weed. That was the struggle for me when I was putting it down, I was also putting down my confidence

Hearing non-AA members talk about AA is so funny to me. That program is all about self-improvement and solving the "underlying shit", the exact thing Adam says it isn't. I hope someday we can get some more people out there who can improve its terrible optics. Also, +1 for Adam saying drugs impregnated him with pleasure lmao.
  • Ive quit weed so many times its like im addicted to being on day 1 of quitting

It doesn't matter what stage of recovery you are in or what substance you are recovering from. The followers of these channels should know that everyone is different. Everyone has their individual perception of how reality works and operates and to what degree this effects them is also thusly unique. It is the willingness and mindfulness to admit your problems and confront them. Both privately and publicly. "Waste no more time talking about what a good man should be. Be one." Marcus Aurelius

Hearing about people's misery puts you inside a similar mindset.
  • Sometimes are language betrays us. When we start talking about addictions as a battle I think in my own personals opinion we have kind of already gotten of on the wrong foot. We shouldn't look at it as a battle but as a learning opportunity. Learn as if addiction is a really hard class in school that you must study for and even get tutoring if needed i.e. help for addiction but if we look at as a battle we are setting ourselves up for failure. Just my opinion.

I loved fireworks so much as a kid. The creek too.
  • Yep... That's me... I honestly don't know why I cycle through life and addiction, I know that I have pure willpower and can just stop proper hardcore addiction, I mean intravenous meth, smack, MDM. Also , alcohol, weed, bezo, all over different times, and I just did it each times, stopped, no support of any kind. But so far I've always cycled back to one form of addiction.. and I have no idea why... Yes there was abuse in my life, but I can't, even when I try, to feel any trauma from those events, I have understood and rationalised all my abuse and it feels like it has no affect at all... But I cycle in and out
