I’ve been doing this with my 2.5 yo rescue WCS, as well as feeding her by hand, outside. She’s great on the long line and in a secure field, she’ll play fetch and retrieve. If she gets the opportunity to break free on open ground, it’s game over for recall. I’m at a loss to know what to try next.

I had to chuckle with the tupac reference coming from a dude with a Scottish accent. Caught me off guard but good video man.

When you recalled her you made her sit before giving her the treat. I was told to give the treat as she comes back taking a few steps back so she comes into you. If you make them sit arent you rewarding the sit not the recall. Its so confusing...no wonder dogs get confused lol

What if your doggie is not treat motivated and will not look at me or listen at all when we are outside? Not sure where to start.

What if my dog is too focused on the treat to listen to commands

Is she a lab retriever or a mix?

Good information!!! Just an added piece of advice: NEVER give “negative correction” if your dog doesn’t respond to your “COME” command. Doing so will cause your dog to associate returning back to you with a negative experience …and they will AVOID that negative experience. ALWAYS give praise.
