These mfs telling us we’re crazy when we feel the lower standard of living. They are selling you lies

The rising interest rate can surely control inflation, but won't prevent erosion of the eroding purchasing power of the US dollar. I have learnt my lesson this time. The banks can't be making money off my money, while inflation eats into it. I have set aside 650k to invest in the stock market now, since that keeps up with inflation, but I don't know how to get started.
  • With all the recent talk about the economy, I'm confused. The U.S. is not officially in a recession, but most Americans think we are. How should I be planning my portfolio in this uncertain environment?
  • The middle class is getting killed w higher prices on everything. This is why people think we're in a recession.
  • I made 19.25/hr in 2019 and make 34/hr now. That’s great but I’m no closer to being able to buy a home. Can’t save when rent is through the roof
  • Unemployment being low doesn't mean it's easy to get a job. If we're not in a recession, we are recession adjacent. Wages and purchasing power have dropped much faster than inflation. Congress can not get anything done

I'd be cruious about a follow up question."Please define a recession".
  • @SinkrSwim
If they can't define what a recession is, maybe they should be removed from the poll? Just a thought because a lot of them dream for deflation and the true economic chaos that would entail.
  • Even if i got a raise in salary, my rent increased even more groceries are more expensive ect. How should i feel about the economy????
  • I got a raise when Biden took office, and the owner of my condo swooped in and took it all plus more.
  • When you run out of unemployment benefits and are no longer drawing it, you are no longer counted as unemployed.

Look, Wallstreet made gains... aren't you happy over there on Main street?
  • @Silverrats
Are you guys being a bit disingenuous though? It’s the same in Australia. Interest rates and inflation. That’s what people see every day when they pay their mortgage, buy food and pay bills. I’d answer the same half a world away “yeah I’m doing fine but things are f***ed”
  • Being old and on Social Security the reality is, it's not easy. C.O.L.A is not the true cost of living. Stocks maybe up the rich get richer. It's a disconnect for those who can't afford to invest and who live from week to week. Being on Social Security I'm thankful we still have it, but every year no matter who is President, just gets harder.
