The rising interest rate can surely control inflation, but won't prevent erosion of the eroding purchasing power of the US dollar. I have learnt my lesson this time. The banks can't be making money off my money, while inflation eats into it. I have set aside 650k to invest in the stock market now, since that keeps up with inflation, but I don't know how to get started.

Unemployment being low doesn't mean it's easy to get a job. If we're not in a recession, we are recession adjacent. Wages and purchasing power have dropped much faster than inflation. Congress can not get anything done

Being old and on Social Security the reality is, it's not easy. C.O.L.A is not the true cost of living. Stocks maybe up the rich get richer. It's a disconnect for those who can't afford to invest and who live from week to week. Being on Social Security I'm thankful we still have it, but every year no matter who is President, just gets harder.
