Toyota Tundra knock sensor replacement, so Toyota decided to put the knock sensors under the intake which that by itself would be okay, but then they covered the wiring harness in line seed oil?
Toyota practically made a mouse bed and breakfast in side your truck!lol🤦‍♂️

Thanks so much for taking the time to document this repair. Rats had chewed off the wires to two of the four knock sensors on my 2008 Tundra. By watching this video I was able to do the repair myself in about 5-6 hours. I took my time and labeled each wire connector or hose as I disconnected them and got up to #22. This made putting everything back together pretty easy. Before I reinstalled the new wire harness, I wrapped it all with several additional layers of electrical tape, sprayed clear coat paint over the tape, and then sprinkled a bunch of cayenne pepper on the wet clear coat. Hopefully those darn rats leave it alone now. As you mentioned, the hardest part was getting those two back electrical bracket connectors released. Thanks again, you rock!

Dude they ABSOLUTELY WRECKED my pops Tundra 😂 thanks for the video, literally he did what you said left it sitting for too long a week he didn't work lol

this absolutely happened to me after one week sitting. mice got up under the intake manifold and chewed the knock sensor harness. i paid about $45 for the harness from oreilly's, and got it fixed with just a few ratchets in about 2.5 hours.

Great breakdown. Keep getting a knock 002 code that I have to clear so I am not in limp mode. Rockauto & this video are about to save my a ton of hassle. THANK YOU

I had an old reliable Ford truck parked all winter. Come springtime, the mechanic that did the annual state required inspection said there was rodent damage, but I could drive it home. I then drove it out into my pasture and about ten minutes later the truck went up in flames. The fire department guys actually had fun. It had a really nice engine in it.

Wrap the new harness in aluminum tape and any others you can as a preventative

Do you have any after market suppliers you recommend for both the sensors and the harness? Thanks.

Hey there, just recently picked up a well kept high milage 08 5.7 limited. I drove the tundra back about 2 hours with no issues a couple days ago. Today went to start it and got p0333, high input knock sensor bank 2 sensor 2. I ordered a new Dorman wiring harness to get the ball rolling lol. Do you think it's the harness or could it be the oxygen sensor? I didn't take the manifold off just yet, waiting for the new harness to come 12/21 in first. Just spitballing to you due to the fact of you helping a lot of people with this common issue. Which is much appreciated! Thank you

Thanks for this excellent video @happybleeding Sorry for being a noob - what spray did you use in this video to spray off the intake manifold?

Thank for this help! Just a couple questions, if you get time partner? 1. Are those 12mm torque bolts? 2. I noticed the rats ate right where the wires are exposed. Would electrical or gorilla tape help cover and protect them? 3. I bought an after market harness. Are they not made from mouse food for sure? Thx man if you get time!!!

Thanks for the Video Going to tackle this on my 2014 4.6L. Rat poop all over the top cover and on top of the Cabin Air Filter. Would this issue throw a code for the Crankshaft Position Sensor P0335?
  • @arminius301
I just had the P0333 code thrown on my 12 toyota tundra 5.7 L. I have the TRD supercharger. The manifold cover is completely different. Do you happen to know if there's anything I need to look out for when removing that cover? Thanks btw for making and posting the video!
  • @jtampa3
Are the 2 sensor the same, or they have different parts number
  • @mamelc5685
thanks for the video, what's the wire connector part number?
  • @marksilva9397
If you dont mind me asking, what is that spray that you’re using on the bottom of the intake manifold, after you removed it?
  • @SeanGrube
Did you need to drain any coolant during this? Thank you for this video!
