glad that you watched the 'I Am Clancy' video first. enjoyed your reaction and i'm super excited about what they'll release next! I don't think Scaled and Icy was supposed to be a 'bad' album, I think they wanted it to sound and look different to the music they'd released previously but they left clues in the songs & videos that it was 'a performance' so it was definitely a preplanned part of the story rather than being a way to excuse a less popular album afterwards.

Clancy was seizing a body inside of Dema to use that body to help teach the people of Dema - it looks like from the very end hes coming to the bandito camp and can see their torches The I Am Clancy video does explain the seizing part with the antlers

The dead boy was Clancy. The Outside mv has got some insight on what's happening here. This song is an introduction to the new album. IMO: SAI wasn't bad, it was just different.

The end is a reference to the outside music video i think
  • Interesting reaction...I'm always surprised at how many people say they are twenty one pilots fans, but don't seem to like their music that much? I dunno, this feeling is absolutely not only coming from your reaction, but I've watched a fair few reactions in the past few weeks, and many 'fans' don't have much good to say about them. No one must like everything they put out, of course, in order to be a fan, but it's surprising to me how many have mainly negative things to say. It's interesting. That said, Scaled and Icy had a very different sound, more poppy and uplifting, to balance out the darkness of the time period, covid, etc...Tyler said he didn't feel that he wanted to put out a darker album in that environment. So he zigged and the story zagged, and now we're back to the original intention, and a more traditional twenty one pilots sound. It's totally legit if SAI wasn't your taste, or preferred sound, a lot of top fans aren't into a more pop flavoured, retro sound, but I feel like no one gives Tyler and Josh credit for going in a completely different direction creatively, when the situation asked it of them,. You know? Regardless, there are some absolute bangers on SAI, and the lore is woven throughout. It stretched them in new directions, which is always good for an artist to do. Doesn't mean everyone must like it, but...well, I'm sorry if your comments pushed me to finally comment this psuedo rant on someone's (your) reaction, when really it's just a culmination of SAI hate that's really been annoying me over the past few weeks or even years. I totally respect people's right to their opinion and taste, and that many didn't like SAI all that much, but I feel like too many are writing it off as a 'bad album' or a 'misstep' when it was simply an exercise in reading the room and trying out a different sound. Top is know for genre bending, I'm shocked no one sees SAI as just another indication of their scope and creativity and their ability to adapt. Like, they slipped into a whole new genre, and even if it's not your taste, you have to respect how polished, shiny and intricate it was, which is exactly what they set out to do. I hope you like the rest of Clancy, I'm excited for it, cause I loved Overcompensate. Then again, I loved SAI also, so maybe you think my opinion is trash, which doesn't bother me. Anyway, thanks for posting. :)
  • Go back and listen to Scaled and Icy again. So many people have reported in the last two weeks they went back and now realized they slept in it. And it's clear you missed on the lore while you dismissed it. Don't sleep on a boy who can't fall asleep twice in the same night and won't hesitate to overcompensate.
