This series will cover all classic Doom demons, examining their original forms and their more recent iterations. These videos take longer to produce, so I will be releasing them in parts, eventually compiling them into one hour-long video. Hope you like it!

Cacodemons are flying tomatoes, Pain Elementals are flying potatoes. You can't change my mind.

Fun fact: The 2016 and Eternal Cacodemons are actually a mixture of the 3 prior interpretations, not just the classic. The face is obviously the classic. The limbs represent 64. And the backside is hardest to recognize (because you dont see it often in Doom 3) but if you spin the model of Doom 3's Cacodemon, it has the EXACT same rear design as Eternal's, even down to the shape and spines.
  • About the cammando chaingunner: The lazer armed guys in 2016 and the fodder mecha zombies function as alt chaingunners. Both do continuous high damage if stand still and have mostly more health than the rest.

I did beat both Doom 1 and 2 using Keyboard only back when they were new. It really helped me later in my life learning many instruments. Also other endeavors of a more mature nature I will not discuss here.

Here's a little fun fact: there also were 2 more versions that appeared in Skulltag, a fanmade sourceport of the doom engine, one of them called the Cacolantern, a black version of the cacodemon, which shot blue projectiles, but i dont remember if they were stronger variants, then there was a lighter orange yellow-ish version, which i forgot the name of.
  • I would make the argument that Hell Razers are spiritual successors to the Chaingun Guys and Commandos. They fire a singular “beam” designed to keep the player on their toes and from staying in one position. Id was likely trying to modernize the enemy type since the Chaingun Guys got so much flak and the Slayer moves much quicker, but it in my opinion didn’t quite work as effectively as they hoped.

Hell yeah, another good monster video! And yeah Cheserie cat is a good description for the caco, that skin above their lips resembled what we see on cats aad dogs... and the eye is of course where kitty's nose would be!

Hella underrated channel. Keep up the good work!

I'm not sure I entirely agree with caco's being reduced entirely to comic relief. Yes, they can be killed very quickly, but they also demand that quick killing; it feels like whenever I play eternal and decide to prioritize some other demon it'll find a way to sneak up on me and shred me to near death at least. So yes, if your playing well, you'll only encounter the "haha funny meatball" side of them, but it only takes one mistake and they eat you alive.

I always wanted to start a video series like this. Tbh, I'm really glad you made this! I love learning about the various beasts we as players encounter in these games.

I love this series so much. Keep the bestiaries coming!

I love this series. I also love the thrawback to the classic controls. I myself played keyboard only in the 90s, with my left hand over the arrowkeys and my left pinky over the shift key for run. My right hand was crossing the left to use the left control key for shooting, alt for strafe and spacebar to open doors. It felt more natural to use my right hand for actions. I had to relearn everything when wsad and mouse became the way to go.

To be fair, the Cacodemons have always been seen as a meme by the fanbase. So giving them a more goofy personality in Doom Eternal fits with their legacy of being an ugly-cute monster that people like to meme much like Kamata Kun in Shin Gojira.
