Thanks, you saved the day. A buddy handed me his old Windows 7 laptop. There were family pictures on it that he wanted to get off of it but he'd forgotten the password. Your video enabled me to reset it for him.

Maybe this will help someone else....I had the same issue as several other folks where when I got to the command prompt and tried the 'net user username *', it wouldn't work. I found however that although I couldn't change the username password, I WAS able to change the administrator password (net user Administrator *). Then the problem was that I didn't have an option to log into windows using the administrator logon. After some googlying, I found that in the cmd window, I could type the command 'net user Administrator /active:yes' (without quotes) and that added the option to the login screen to log in to either MY account OR the administrator account (using the new password that I changed to). I was able to log onto the pc using the Admin account and from that point, it was easy to change the password for my standard account. I then backtracked by using the cmd window again to type 'net user Administrator /active:no' to remove the admin logon option. Also, don't forget to correct the original 'Utilman' and 'cmd' file names under Windows/system32 (although for some reason, my two files corrected themselves...not sure how, but all is good).
