I remember the 1989 military parade in Berlin on the 40th anniversary of the GDR. As a tiny little boy, I was totally fascinated by the huge, noisy machines. I can still remember how the ground vibrated as the tanks drove past. Danke fรผr die schรถnen Bilder vom Millitrack 24.

All these ultra-clever trucks with tracks, and they SRILL relied heavily on horses. My Uncle Micky, in Normandy on D-Day, although some fifty miles inland, kept looking for the horses - 'I knew that we had lost the war' he said to me once, 'when I saw the way that the allies had motor-vehicles beyond counting. If one went wrong, they pushed it aside and got another one - just like that!'
