Colin Farrell on THAT Shocking Sugar Episode 6 Reveal

Publicado 2024-05-04
On its surface, the eight-episode Apple TV+ series Sugar is a private detective story wrapped in film noir with an air of mystery surrounding it. John Sugar (Colin Farrell) takes a case for legendary Hollywood producer Jonathan Siegel (James Cromwell) to find his missing granddaughter, but as he attempts to uncover what happened, there’s bound to be secrets that someone will have wanted to keep buried. As you follow the investigation, it becomes clear that there are things going on with Sugar that have a deeper explanation not immediately presenting itself.

Episode 6 of Sugar, entitled “Go Home,” finally provided some specific clarity as to what the private investigator’s true purpose is. Having already watched the entire season, Collider got the opportunity to chat with Farrell about the series, his character, and the reveal. During the interview, he talked about what a collaborative process the season was, how he approached figuring out John Sugar, the inspiration he took from the noir detective genre, getting to drive around Los Angeles in that incredible car, figuring out how to portray Sugar’s flashback episodes, fine tuning the best time to make that big character reveal, the connection between Sugar and Melanie (Amy Ryan), and that there is more to explore with this character, even though they haven’t been picked up for a Season 2 yet.

Sugar is available to stream on Apple TV+

I didn’t see that episode 6 reveal coming AT ALL! I was like WTF! 😱

Sugar is actually great without the twist. The twist def adds more mystery on who has the girl and why his most trustworthy partner isn’t telling him the truth.

Love the show! Love the twist! Apple has somehow hijacked my imagination with Film noir meets Sci-fi, Colin Farrell and a ‘66 Corvette!!!

I thought it was some goverrnment-medical-conspiracy-super-soldier retired to become a private eye story...and then... 👽!!! I've never been so shocked! I love it & hope the response from fans pushes a season 2 out for serious consideration! I Love Colin Farrell & SUGAR!❤
  • I love Colin Farrell. Amazing actor. Def want a second season. Very surprising twists.

I NEVER saw that coming! It’s a pleasant twist, I just hope it doesn’t get overly otherworldly and stay somewhat grounded.

It’s so good! My favorite part of the show is all the humanity, good and bad. The kindness Sugar has amongst all the evil, and how he appreciates the goodness in people. It’s beautiful and relatable.

Been a long long time since a show surprised me like Sugar has !! As a previous poster said, the story did not need that twist but it certainly adds A WHOLE NEW LEVEL.... Needs a second season !!

Had a sneaking suspicion during the cocktail party episode (3) when Ruby was debriefing him and all the other guests. She says "we're here to observe these people not participate in their lives". He also describes being a detective as his "stated profession". But then I just dismissed it, and it came back to slap me in the face. I frackin love it!!!

Fantastic show. I didn’t even see any promo for it, just started watching it when I saw it come up on Apple TV.

I really enjoyed this interview - it's nice to see an actor take questions seriously and give thoughtful responses. Nicely done, Mr. Farrell. FWIW, I'm enjoying this series and would be up for another season.

SECOND SEASON PLEASE COLIN This is one of the most refreshing TV shows I've watched in ages. I absolutely LOVE the crossover of genres and sincerely hope both genres are retained, and that the noir genre isn't lost to the SciFi element. The crossover element reminds me of Westworld series 1 which was the very best TV ever.
  • Really great show and Colin is amazing in the role

I love Collin Farrell and I love Sugar. What a great show and a fantastic character. I love the mix of current life and film noir mixed together. I grew up watching black and white mysteries and detective stories which makes Sugar double the pleasure. There has to be a season 2, 3, etc.

Love this show for so many reasons, one of them being the absence of romantic relationship - so refreshing. Hope they do a second season.
