Hello. I shall now talk about the Rpg Maker game Fear and Hunger, as well as difficulty in video games. And I don’t even mention Dark Souls.

this game literally encompasses the line "this is supposed to be an RPG, what role am I playing? the Victim??"
-
"We got a divorce." A phrase of weakness, implies your fault, vague. "Marriage was defeated." Powerful and ominous, implies a great battle, mysterious.
-
I need to point out that the knocking sound after a game over is the sound of a heartbeat through an echocardiogram. It honestly threw me when I heard it because I've gotten echos done yearly since childhood, and I instantly felt like I was in the doctor's office again.

I’ve never wanted to both play a game more, while also never wanting to play a game more, than this. This looks both amazing and absolutely awful.
-
"Berserk but you are a side character, the game" That Steam review was telling the truth all along
-
A developer played Darkest Dungeon and said "this isn't stressful enough"

This game has a really weird effect on me. I can't play it because of the difficulty but at the same time I'm in love with the lore and I'm thinking about it all day long. Le'gard character got me because of his similarities with Griffith. What a masterpiece that demostrates that a human brain is the most disgusting and amazing thing in the universe.

LaGarde really must hate the concept of living for him to go straight back in to the dungeon
-
“Marriage was defeated” Divorce lawyer laughs maniacally
-
You know a niche game is going to be insane when its main audience are Russians

I think one of the coolest things about it is that this is a damn RPGMaker game. I've seen so many games that re-use the stock assets, SFX, and basic Final Fantasy style mechanics. This game is so transformative and deep compared to the average title. It's just really inspiring to see what people create with sufficient tools.
-
This game is the embodiement of "Chaos is an order that you don't understand yet".
-
I went 4 hours without winning a single coin toss. This game is hell. Thank you for introducing me to this.
-
Fun fact. When talking about knight only being good in combat while mercenary can open doors for free you might not know but the knights ability leg sweep automatically destroyes any door. That's because leg sweep automatically destroyes the legs of the opponent and for some God forsaken reason the doors in this game are coded as legs.

I don't know why, but this has become a comfort video for me. I keep coming back to it when I'm having anxiety and/or can't sleep.
-
A full 48 minutes video about Fear and Hunger without mentioning the little girl, that tells more about how deep the game is than anything else.
-
One potentially interesting fact I want to point out: Miro Haverinen, creator of the game, made the beta version of the game as a part of his communicational sciences degree's master's thesis. He then analyzed the reception he got using scientific methods and finished the game based on the data. And got a master's degree diploma on the side.

Gamers will see titles called shit like "the worst time you'll ever have playing a video game" and be like: "can' wait to spend my free time playing this masterpiece"
-
For anyone who needs it, there's an alternate solution to the ogre problem. Attack the cleaver arm, then the stinger, block, then hit the torso until it goes down and you'll take 0 damage

For anyone curious, the cabin/hut mentioned right after the harvestman part is where you encounter the skin granny. Apparently she’s not that strong an enemy but her coin toss attack I think instakills whoever it lands on, and gives her a creepy “cosmetic effect” for lack of a better word. You can look it up yourself if you know the details
