Xinjiang, Uyghur Autonomous Region - China's most controversial area
Previous video from rural China➡️   • People Warned Me Not To Visit Rural C...

Urumqi, Xinjiang China - I traveled to the far west of China to visit the Uyghur Autonomous Region. This region is all over western media for not so good reasons. But as usual, I am curious to see things with my own eyes. So, i booked a flight to Urumqi, which is the capital of the Xinjiang province in west China. This is by the way also the biggest province in China. According to some comments on my channel, I would not even be allowed to enter, as the region is apparently closed for foreigners. Well, I was able to enter without any problems and soon after I found myself exploring the city center of Urumqi. It was freezing cold there though: Around -20 °C (-4 °F). Join me as we explore around to get to know this region of China, meet local Ughyur Muslims, try local food and see what Xinjiang, China is really like!

This is where U.S. Secretary of State Blinken said genocide occurred, and by the way, he also said there was no genocide in Gaza.

There are about 24,400 mosques in Xinjiang, an average of one mosque for every 530 Muslims, which is higher than the number of churches per Christian person in England. In March 2014

My kids and i love your videos. You are polite and not rude nor racist. Keep up the great vlogs

Our Malaysia Diplomat visited Xinjang in last year 2023 together with bunches of diplomats from other Muslim countries including Indonesia found no such things in Xinjiang. Most Muslim countries in the world have no issues with it, only the West keep expressing their concern on Xinjiang while they remain total silence to what happened in middle east right now! 😒

I am a Chinese person born in Urumqi, Xinjiang. I have spent ten years abroad obtaining a PhD, yet I still choose to return to Xinjiang for work after graduation. I believe my decision and choice are sufficient to demonstrate that the portrayal of Xinjiang by Western media is entirely inaccurate.

Finally! Your Xinjiang video is out! This video makes us want to visit this region as well. Looks interesting and different than the rest of China. Very eye opening. Not like what we see on the media for sure.

What is genocide? The answer is that the number of Indians in North America decreased from 10 million to 200,000 in the 19th century. Instead of the number of Uighurs in China increased from 3 million to 10 million.
  • The "controversial" region with 265 million tourists last year 😅

This guy is real, only show what he saw in china, and not brainwash by the western media, thumbs up for you and i subscribe because of it

Compare this place, which America claims there is a genocide occurring, with Gaza, which America is reluctant to admit there is a genocide, then you should know how hypocritic is America.

That was great! Thankyou Ken. Im Australian . The mosques might be upstairs because l have seen that situation in the middle east. In lstanbul the first mosque built a market to get money and built the mosque above. Maybe that’s a good working model which has been adopted. Ive subscribed.

Thank you for posting this video to show what Xinjiang is actually like. I visited Xinjiang last September and it is actually a major tourist destination for Chinese also, mainly for the nature. As for winter Xinjiang has grown popularity in winter sports and there are already several major ski resorts in places like Keketuohai(可可托海).

I am a Chinese Hui Muslim living in the US for 30 years. As a non Muslim country China has a non spoken Muslim privilege policy. We Chinese Muslims have more privileges than Chinese Han people due to our minority status and cultural background. There are Hui Chinese living in Xinjiang too. I visited Xinjiang in 1991 when I graduated from college to visit fellow college students who studied in my university in Dalian University. Comparing the the western countries China has the best social policies towards minorities especially the Muslims. I am a product and witness of such policies. I am about leaving the US after 30 years.

As a Chinese Muslim, I was discriminated against twice:1. An Indonesian once asked me if I was forced by the gov to eat pork😓. 2. A man from Scotland said to me that Chinese mosques are useless. I believe in Allah and I love my country, the gov has NEVER NEVER NEVER banned my faith☪. They even set up “green lanes” for Muslim every Friday in my community. Instead, some foreigners are prejudiced. Now I'm really tired of explaining to foreign friends that there is religious freedom in China.I understand they're just curious, but you know, it's really annoying to answer the same biased questions over and over again. So I hope your video can be seen by more people.

Very useful info and great video 👍👍👍👍

In Xinjiang, some people are wary of those who use cameras because BBC journalists have come here before and made false news such as news about Xinjiang cotton and labor, which has affects on some Xinjiang people's jobs. So they may be curious about you and worried if you are a BBC journalist who tends to harm them again. One of vloggers I followed, who is also a foreigner, had such experience, and his name is 老王在中国 if you wanna check if out yourself. I dare say a lot of ppl in Xinjiang(may not be all) hates BBC, some even have negative impression on foreigners because of BBC.
  • This is great! I’m glad more people are also visiting this controversial region and seeing the truth too! My visit to Xinjiang a few months ago was beyond amazing and I had so much fun. I hope they don’t say you’re paid, cuz I heard that a lot! Nice one🤠

Fascinating to see Xinjiang from your eyes, thanks so much for sharing, I'm Chinese and I've never been to Xinjiang so this was very informative :)
