  • Yes I agree. I am a parent of two children ages 11 and 14. I have allowed them to be on their electronic devices for too long. So I have bought my daughter a pair of roller skates and my son is in Taekwondo. It is a significant difference already. Now my daughter desires to take up dancing!! Guess where those devices are at? In my drawer locked. ❤
  • “We are embodied creatures; children should learn how to manage their bodies in the physical world before they start spending large amounts of time in the virtual world.” ~ Jonathan Haidt, The Anxious Generation

I am an educator and I agree with every word you say. Brain development is concerning because of social media and technology influence. It's better we quickly establish good norms.

I literally believe what he is saying, I'm in college and I've never experienced more young people suffering with anxiety, I even got diagnosed with Agoraphobia and Panic disorder.
  • We have found Scouts has been a game changer for getting my 11 and 13 outside, engaged, challenged and off their tablets.

@JayShettyPodcast. This is THE MOST insightful conversation I have ever witnessed!! Thank you for bringing this to my home & my family 🙏
  • I believe social media is very dangerous I am 41 and it has most definitely effected my mental health I have had to take very long breaks from it It's very sad I wish Facebook was never invented to be honest it stresses me out glad I grew up without it so it's easy for me to take breaks more people need to be outside connecting with nature and exercising I believe social media is addictive and they have done that on purpose to keep us disconnected from ourselves families and our lives It needs to be stopped and a warning put on it I grew up being playing outside most of the time and yes I did have a Nintendo but it was a positive influence on me not like social media being a negative influence on others and making people think that they need to compete with one another and all the drama and stressed that it brings I hope people wake up and see this all before it's to late Praying for this AMEN 🙏
  • Every once in a while I take my teenage son off his computer, and what I see is a two day withdrawal. After that he finds other things to do and I see change in behavior for the positive. This helps me see just how additive the computer or screen time really is.
  • Thank you Jay! I am Gen Z and without this podcast I wouldn’t have known that there was a movement going on. I’m going to continue to advocate and share the wisdom that I’ve learned from this episode to others. Me and my friend were having a conversation about this about 20 minutes before I found this and we were talking about how we want to raise our children without technology and encourage more play outside. I’m definitely implementing this into my own life by getting off social media besides LinkedIn.
  • I still find it hard when I listen to such great wisdom addressing the power and lack of ethical responsibility that Meta and other social media companies actions constantly show. However, not many great influencers or wellbeing CEO's, with power like you Jay Shetty or also you Jonathan Haidt, will leave social media platforms to make a difference. Stop using them, hold them accountable, by leaving in numbers. I ask you to be of service to our children and show leadership. I am a small business owner that was on Instagram and Facebook, I always felt a sinking feeling about the platform, a terrible gut feeling with being connected to it, especially once having children. So I left and survived, actually thrive now. It would be great to see you both lead by example, create the momentum to exodus these companies, to evoke the change that is needed.

Im a millenial but find this informative.. Any other millenials or im alone? 😊
  • You are both very I spirational for us. We are a newlywed couple and also started a Youtube channel, greetings from Hungary. :)
  • I never comment on videos but this one was so impactful and I hope people listen. While cellphones in general are useful in certain ways, but in many ways, its ruined society. People don't talk any more, they don't move and are addicted to people's nonsense that they post on social media.
  • @marials9245
However, in terms of suicide prevention, studies show that talking about it and openly asking questions about suicidal thoughts is beneficial and it helps reduce suicide rates…..
  • This is powerful...I feel anger at this situation. Im 64, my children in their 30s. Thankfully they just missed all this. The young people I hire are not prepared for life. The young ladies have spent more money on hair, nails, eye lashes, new phones, nice cars...come in late, xall off several times..then they are being evicted for not paying rent. Our company policy is no cell phones in business areas (Healthcare) and they walk around with ear buds in talking to themselves...of course on the phone in their pocket. Its very difficult to see these young folks as they are not on a path to success.
