I always loved the scene where Loomis scares the kids by whispering from the bushes, he has this little smile, then immediately gets scared by the sheriff creeping up on him XD.
  • @Balbadeno
As the sightings of Micheal happen he gets closer each time, from outside the school to behind the bush, then the garden until he finally is standing behind her, I always found that interesting
  • Not to mention, Michael pulled Judith's gravestone out of the ground and somehow got it back to the house. The immense amount of strength it would take for one person to do something like that. Carpenter might have done that intentionally.
  • @plantbasedbooch
I love that you mentioned Judith's boyfriend wearing the clown mask before Michael does! Zombie pays homage to that moment in his remake too! Great analysis of Michael acting out what Judith's boyfriend did just seconds🤣 prior
  • a classic. John Carpenter's score is haunting and The Shape is awesome! Mike paved the way for my fave killer, Jason

I think this entire IP is 100% in debt to the music. I think this is the most iconic IP music in any genre. The music is what made this a billion dollar IP.

Love these classic movie breakdowns. Really well thought out and put together. Really respect the deep diving and back stories on a lot of these classics. Halloween will always remain the greatest horror movie(series) to me. Meyers is just so iconic!
  • @jonvia
The music in Halloween will always be my favorite part of the series. As a musician myself, that iconic piano theme just rips into your soul like a knife blade of Michael's.

My favorite story from this production is them having to bag up all the leaves to every shot because it was filmed in summer and they didn't have money to buy more than they had
  • @thelastsith2706
The best thing is is that Michael never had any relation to Laurie Strode. It makes it 10x scarier that this was pretty much a random target that opened as an opportunity to Michael. Such a creepy detail. Hate they tried to make them brother and sister
  • @KHoltzie
One thing that I’ve always found interesting and chilling at the same time is the way Michael is posed after he falls from the balcony—if you pause the shot and look at it closely his body is posed in the Curse of Thorn symbol…intentional or coincidence viewer be the judge!
  • @KHoltzie
One thing that is always impressed me about the original ‘Halloween’ is the close attention to detail using the colors orange and black to symbolize Halloween—if you look closely at the board review scene in the directors cut you can see the color combination of orange seats and black desks in a lecture hall + Dean Cundey’s cinematography and clever lighting techniques gives us the appearance of an orange couch in the living room of the Doyle house during the ending montage…great subtle tie ins in my opinion 👀

I live for horror movie talk. Can you do Child’s Play or Nightmare on Elm street? You the man Paul! Cheers from across the pond. 🍻

If you've ever been in a traumatic, violent encounter where you had to use a weapon there's a feeling of dropping after and it's probably disgust at the knife that Laurie felt and is why she dropped it. She thought he was dead and she is horrified by the situation and doesn't want a reminder. "Get this away from me." If it was real she would probably have thrown up too. To me it's some brilliant acting work on Curtis's part. Not sure if that's what she was going for. I've been in quite a few very violent struggles, yes PTSD, and I hate what I get from that scene.

I enjoyed your breakdown and some details and things that I had missed, even though I watch it every year. I watched it on its' initial theatrical release, long ago. I always interpreted it as Michael was initially a normal child, who was invaded by the spirit of Samhain, or the Boogie man. The Boogie Man was always a mysterious and frightening figure in scary tales , and it was never explained how it came to be, or why it attacked children. I like the idea that some things, like evil, can NOT be explained or understood, they just simply ARE. That's why Loomis stops trying to help the murderous child, as he recognizes that it is no longer a child, it is an evil ancient entity. To me, most of the sequels and remakes miss the mark, as they try to explain ad nauseum. Good job!
  • @dylanborecki2975
I'm pretty sure that when Loomis says "He got hungry" after they find the dead dog, they are referring to Michael's hunger for killing, not his physical hunger.
  • This was fantastic. Halloween is one of my five favorite movies. I always wondered if there is a continuity error from when he got the mask to when you hear the alarm at the Hardware store. He was presumably wearing the mask for at least a couple of hours before Laurie and Annie see her dad at the Hardware store with the alarm going off.
  • @earlleary
Just a little thing I've noticed, and I mentioned to Nancy Loomis ( Annie ) when I met her. When she " accidentally " gets locked in fhe laundry room, if you freeze frame it, you'll catch that she is actually locking the door just before she starts tryimg to open it. It's as clear as day. Just a minor thing, but thought it was cool when I first caught it. Very much enjoyed watching this.
