  • All the branch closures along with the banks forcing customers into digital communication has assisted the scammers immensely.

STOP ANSWERING YOUR PHONES! The only calls I ever get are scammers!!!

If you are giving away a bank security code over the phone, that is a basic mistake. Not an elaborate scam.

My heart goes with this couple , BANKS MUST BE HELD RESPONSIBLE and PAY

Inaction on part of banks and govts so much unethical and criminal, leaving victims helpless and hopeless. Govt must bear all coasts because it is their failure to punish fraudsters. Banks and govt levies so many charges and earn so much from accounts holders, they must bear cost of deficiency in their systems.

My favourite response to scammers was, (cause they have backlisted me), after speaking with them for a few minutes, I would say someone is trying to phone me, they get upset and demand you do not answer the call, then I say I’ve just got a text, which says ‘to hang up the call, you are speaking to a scammer.’ Scammers go into panic mode, thinking their system has been compromised, they want to know who told you, the number who phoned, you just hang up, works a treat.

This is ridiculous. If Scammers get into the bank message chain they have to take some responsibility
  • Telcos here can do things that they aren’t doing. It should not be possible to spoof certain numbers. Banks also are slack, they won’t do more until it’s affecting their bottom line. People on the bottom are naive but it’s unrealistic to expect most people to be hip to this stuff, and technical measures are only available to the telcos and banks, so, obviously only regulators can put pressure on them and they should
  • he seems so casual about it? If it was me I would be physically sick being scammed so badly
  • Banks don’t phone 📞 you and ask for your personal login details , if you’re on the phone to the scammer they can duplicate your bank’s phone number and it will appear the bank is phoning you with the banks name you have saved in your contacts.

I actually saved a person account the scammer pretended to be a phone service provider approx 3yrs ago. I phoned the bank up of the person and blocked the account so the scammers couldn't get any money out. The scammer are I think based in Australia somewhere.
  • Surely these banks should be reimbursing these poor people? The banks are making huge profits and obviously using cheap security.
  • @galen__
How did the criminals know enough details about these people to fool them into being scammed? Are employees now being bribed or extorted in order for these criminals to access secure internal systems in banks and government organisations?

why do people keep money in a bank?
