As a child of the 60's who grew up in the town that Hershey built, I was blessed to enjoy the fruits he freely gave. The zoo, park, library, theater and the community center bring back great memories. Hershey is a mentor who exemplifies what a real philanthropist is. Not like those in self appointed name only but as someone who truly cared for the people he served.

Imagine, an great entrepreneur who actually cared for his workers and people in general. Sadly, there are not enough people like Hershey.

I am retired now in Florida. I lived most of my life in PA. My dad helped build the hotel. He also was the chef there for years until my dad passed away. My mom and dad met there. My mom worked in house-keeping. When they were first married they lived in one of the cottages on the Hotel grounds. My mom did not get to meet Mr. Hershey. My dad got to see him and talked to him frequently. He was considered to be Mr. Hershey's chef. Which lead to my dad being a chef at the hotel. My dad told me a lot about Mr. Hershey and had total respect for him. Last, but not least, I give credit to those involved in making this video. Very well done.
  • What a wonderful example of “love thy neighbor. We need more thoughtful people like him in our angry, materialistic society. God help us.
  • My grandpa was an orphan and grew up at milton Hershey school and not only knew him but the kid in his statue was his classmate
  • A Hershey Bar is always my first choice when buying ANY chocolate. Hershey truly gave back to America.
  • I lived in Hershey as a young adult, 1985 to 1987. Life there was as if one lived in a giant theme park. The smell of chocolate was pervasive and even the street lights on mainstreet were shaped like Hershey Kisses.

Two of my grandsons presently attend Milton Hersey High School.... I have visited the school plenty of times... I appreciate the blessings Milton Hersey has afforded my family. Thank you Mr. Milton S Hershey 🍫
  • My family went there when I was a little girl. Somehow as I was gazing at the wonderful things there (candies I suppose) my family left without noticing I wasn’t with them (there were four of us kids). When I realized they were gone and began crying, a female employee took me to her office and gave me candy after candy until my family who finally realized I wasn’t with them was located. It is a wonderful memory in my mind of the kindness of that employee and the candies I was given. As we drove out of town I marveled at the streetlights shaped like Hershey kisses and how the air literally smelled like chocolate! Years later in college I dated a boy who was from Hershey, Pennsylvania and whose parents worked there. 🥰 I’m so happy to learn of what a wonderful person Mr. Hershey was!
  • Now that is someone who made a difference in people’s lives. What a legacy...and the chocolate isn’t too bad either. Lol.
  • As a former House Father at the Milton Hershey School, I can state that the happiest and proudest moments of my late Wife and our lives were in Hershey and at the School! I remain fond touch with Many of “Our Boys”!

I grew up in Central Pennsylvania. When someone said they worked at ' The Factory ' you didn't have to wonder which one they were talking about.

Thank you. I am inspired by this and I will only continue to come back from my many failures and at 63 I will never quit trying until I have done something for humanity.
  • Interesting documentary. I love learning how people can prosper coming from nothing. God bless him and our wonderful country that encourages entrepreneurship.
