When I saw this trip advertised at just £654 ($829) per person, I thought this could be the chance I’ve been waiting for to take my family on a cruise. I wasn’t sure how cruising with children would change the way that I do things and I hoped that they would enjoy it as I’m always telling them how great cruises are.

My nieces who are 6 and 13 have cruised twice before but they had rough weather on both their past cruises so my hope for this cruise was that we would have calm seas and a lot of fun. There are so many things to do on Royal Caribbean cruises, things that really have to be seen to be believed.

Before we even embarked the ship we had an email about bad weather. It said that Royal Caribbean had been ‘monitoring some adverse weather along our intended path’ and that we would now be calling at Bergen for our first port stop.

I hope this would mean that we would avoid the bad weather completely but only time would tell. I was nervous that this would be my nieces 3rd rocky sailing.

We embarked the ship in Southampton and it was very easy. We’d already checked in online before arriving so we just had to scan our passports and boarding passes before going through security. Boarding a cruise is very much like going through an airport but generally more relaxed and faster. It took us under 10 minutes to get onto the ship and I can’t imagine getting through an airport that fast.

I agree 100% about hand washing in the buffet!
  • I was on this cruise in May your reporting is very accurate and well narrated
  • I have not watched your videos for a while and it is shocking to again see the Vivid Clarity of the Videos you produce and all the expert panning of the "B" roll stuff, if that is what it is called. Videos perfectly in sync with your narration, the result of years of post production practice. Was happy to see this was a Family Cruise Video as this is how you got your young start. Could be the future owner of your Business flying in the Tube when you decide to retire and cruise for pleasure. The food videos are incredible, so much variety and perfectly displayed. The Low Light videos like Laser Tag and Shows came out fantastic, you have the best equipment. As always, it is a pleasure to see you in the videos in your many outfits. The Formal Night outfit was Stunning. Time to catch up on your videos. :) AL :)
  • "I didn't come here to dodge, I came here to bump" sounds like something you'd say at a club in one's twenties 😇😄
  • “On Royal Caribbean, donuts are a breakfast food.” Lol, probably because they’re a breakfast food in all of the US 😅
  • I am with 100% on the hand washing before eating. I was on a HAL cruise in June, and the number of people (the majority) who just walked right past the hand washing station was mind boggling and disheartening. Your cruise looks like it was a lot of fun. Thank you for sharing it with us.

I was turned onto pizza with ketchup in college. It's better on some pizzas than others...but the best, especially with thicker crust, is honey. Also, on our last RC cruise my wife became obsessed with the UK style of Heinz beans. She had them for breakfast every day and once we got home (Kansas) she special ordered them and has been having them ever since. If you're not aware, the UK style beans are more of a tomato base versus US style beans which tend to be sweeter or smokier, generally.
  • We did Anthem last year with grandkids . They really enjoyed it and keep asking when can they go again . The staff were all fantastic and so accommodating especially at dinner making them feel really special.. They were also very diligent around the pools keeping an eye on young children. Could not fault it with so much to do for children .

Every time I see one of your videos, I really want to go on a cruise. As someone who's deadly afraid of open seas and absolutely hates to be around many people, I never thought about it, it was always a clear no for me but seeing how beautiful those ships are, it just makes me want to try it.

When we were on Ovation, they even show washy washy song on that big poolside screen. I'm glad that they always take it seriously.

I'm 100% on board with your hand washing policy! I think the same policy should apply when we're on land too tho 😂
  • Gooooorrrrgeous dress for formal night Emma! 😃❤ We did Norway earlier this year, absolutely stunning place!
  • I agree about Norway. Truely stunning country that is so easy to recommend. I want to go back soon and head quite far north to the arctic circle.
  • I cruised on P&O's Britannia in late June around the Fjords, It was a great experience since it was the first cruise I can remember, We found loads of ducks around the ship and I loved watching my sister hide them all for the next guests, really adds to the experience for younger kids.

Emma, I’m an avid cruiser and have enjoyed your vids ever since subscribing some time ago. Alas, I must draw the line at ketchup on pizza. N-O! 😂😂 Nice job on this, it held my interest all the way!

Aaaaw, I enjoyed this perspective as I have a 13 yr old and a 9 year old and can see how they can be entertained. Thank you!!
