Him being the creators's favorite character just behind Cartman and Randy is a big honor, and I dont think the show would be the same without him.
  • Honestly, Butters dissociating and becoming Victor Chaos in the dark future was probably the healthiest thing he could have done.
  • "I saw an episode where Buters was mistreated." So you basically just saw any episode of South Park...?
  • @nicktime5841
The beautiful sadness quote actually moved me the first time I watched the scene. It was honestly amazing

It's also the perfect contrast between him and Cartman. Butters' traumatic life should make him more like Cartman, and Cartman's cushy life should make him more like Butters, but they both end up with the opposite personalities.

Next up should be Stan's story arc of overcoming the barf reflex when Wendy gets near.

When he said "murdering her with a shovel in front of butters, telling him to eat her. again , not the worst thing he has experienced" i didnt believe him. But then I reached minute 22:02 !
  • @jaidora
There was a quick line that Butters said when he was burning all of his make-believe costumes, when he was throwing them into the fire saying no more [Insert Occupation] Butters he briefly said "No more Porn Star Butters" and that already raises a ton of red flags and questions.

It's probably worth mentioning that seeing a child with a ninja star in his eye wasn't the thing that people freaked out about, the massive upheaval at the end of that episode was Cartman streaking because he was pretending to be invisible, it feels like having your severe injury brushed aside like that would be pretty traumatic
  • Since "Butters very own episode" , he's become my favorite character in the show
  • @gonzoshots4691
tbh, im amazed you condensed this into 30 minutes. Butters. Goes. Through. It.
  • The reason I like Butters is that he is shown to be innocent but completely capable of being even more dangerous than Cartman. Either indirectly or through intricate planning.

His friend: "I watched an episode where Butters was treated terribly, I felt so bad." Blooms: "Do you have even the SLIGHTEST idea how LITTLE that narrows it down?"
  • @localmenace3043
Hearing Butters of all people say he thought of himself as a “twerpy little loser” who was unloved really hit hard the first time I watched that special. He seems like such an innocent and loving character that hearing him say that felt so… awful. Even more awful than a lot of the things the others say on a weekly basis. It really felt up there with Stan being depressed in “You’re Getting Old”.
  • I feel like Butters was basically an unplanned pregnancy and that’s why his parents treat him like shit
  • @Flower_Mom
I absolutely love Butters. He feels like a son to me. I've never wanted to hug a fictional character so badly. You'd be surprised how many people I've come across who actually deeply hate Butters and think he's more evil than Cartman somehow, but they seem to be a vocal minority.
  • @NyanCatMatt
2:00 i feel we should still talk about those times when Butters was unaware of what was really happening, because i think not only would someone develop some major psychological issues from their known traumas, but would probably figure it out later in life, compounding the mental issues. i'd watch that deep dive.

As someone who used to relate to Butters in terms of home life (albeit in a less exaggerated way but somewhat similar), in a way, he's a comfort character who makes me feel less alone.
