Emily Kaplan and Carlo Colaiacovo join Bryan Hayes to discuss if the Senators have done enough yet with the addition of Linus Ullmark and some depth signings to stack up with the top teams in the East who have also improved early in free agency.

Senators fans, we want to hear from you. What are your thoughts about the Sens' activity so far in Free Agency?
  • How tough is it to be a Sens fan? Let’s check in with a Leafs Alumni and American reporter. Way to have your finger on the pulse fellas 😂

Ullmark said he and hie family felt immediately welcome by the team. They were surprised at how many new teammates reached out, so not sure where she got that info from.
  • Trust the process. It will take Staios at least two more years to clean up Dorion's mess. He will sign Pinto and add another veteran piece. He won't do stupid things.
  • @BruinsForLife7
It's gotta be tough for Sens fans because their team plays in the toughest division in the league.

I feel like Ottawa is like that kid who always has a good lunch but gets bullied out of it
  • The Sens have a good young core. They took a step back last season for sure. They needed to get better defensively. They did that. Sure we wanted Tanev, Zadorov, Roy and other big named D.. guess what.. they wouldn't come here. The only way to get that RHD was thru trade. They got a veteran shut down D for Chychrun and a pick. The return was not what fans expected. But the Sens were never getting back what they gave up. They have balanced the D. Still a question in the bottom pairing if Kleven is ready. I hope he is. Decent defensive forwards. Gregor is one of the fastest guys in the NHL. Perron can play either wing. Amadio can play any forward position. They upgraded their goaltending. The Sens were not going to add any flashy player in free agency. It was about getting veteran help. They did that.. Now it's about getting this young core to play better defensively.

Ottawa takes the cake for the best move so far by any team! We got ULLMARK BABY!! Are you kidding me Ottawa! Hats off to Staios he just gave us what we needed for so long. And you better believe ULLMARK is bringing his A game being a #1 now with all that ice time. All these young lads needed was some confidence behind the net. Now they can focus on putting pucks in the net like they can with their offensive talent and stop worrying about stopping them all for there goalie! I promise you Ottawa is now a FORCE to be reckoned with! Hopefully Green is a good fit. That’s the only thing I’m worried about.
  • OMG how did these two guys get this gig on TSN Sports television 📺? Get back to radio guys …
  • Worst part is we’re buying high and selling low. Free agency has been underwhelming, but we are getting used to frustration now. I forgot what winning feels like

It's tough to be a fan of most team, since only a few get to the quarter-finals. Is Montreal happy? How are Leafs feeling, knowing they are all-in and their window is closing but can't get past round. I think a lot of the problem is the taxes in Canada, just makes it hard to compete. The NHL needs to allow a TAX MARKUP on each team's cap to permit teams to cover some taxes to even things out a bit.

2 of Sens, Habs, Wings, Sabres will dethrone last years playoff teams this season

Bro, we started as trash, disappointed constantly when we were good, then lagged behind ever since, with a bit of a bright spot big enough to lose to a champion and develop the Golden Knights captain for them. It’s never been easy to be a Sens fan.

Honestly, as a die hard fan, I don’t hate the moves other than the Perron @4 for 2 years @ 36 yo. Jensen isn’t the sexiest trade but it could work out very well if he can be Jensen of 2 years ago. Look at his d partner in Sandin vs Orlov and you can probably see why there was a big drop off. Playing with a stud like Chabot or Sanderson should help him. Pinto needs to get signed and we’ll see if he wants or can move a Joseph contract to get another 3rd/4th line depth and 3rd pairing. Lots of question marks but it’s honestly more about chemistry than anything. Sens have taken big swings last few seasons on big ticket guys and it hasn’t worked out.
  • Now the Red Wings just signed Vladimir Tarasenko after losing Alex Debrincat.. that's WILD.. they got Patrick Kane back as well and Gustafsson??!.. like BRUH..
  • @DoctorRevers
The signings were fine. The chychrun return is embarrassing.
  • Our team has had their center ice spine of Pinto,Norris and Stu healthy for only 53 games in 4 year's..Not many teams can win with the amount of injuries this team has suffered to key player's
  • Sens were in the ECF in 2017. The leafs have won one round in all that time. So a better question is, how tough is it to be a leafs fan?

some bad returns on trades (aside from the Ullmark trade) and some boring free agent pickups notwithstanding, the rest of the Atlantic division didn't really get any better, and most are arguably marginally worse. Ullmark's a big upgrade, Perron is an improvement over Joseph, Amadio's better than Kelly or Kastelic, Jensen will hopefully be a better fit than Chychrun and balance out the top 4. These small to major improvements Staios has made also hinge on the young core progressing. It certainly can feel disappointing on July 1 seeing big signings and trades happening, but aside from disappointing returns for Dorion players, I feel pretty good about the team right now. Of course if they have yet another lost season, I'll be the first one to call for major changes.
