This was my very first time doing a belly dance performance ever. It was my talent for my first pageant, so it was a bit nerve racking 😅 I didn’t want to do a lip sync since most drag artists would likely do it. I wanted to think outside the box. And even though I didn’t rank or win, it was pretty awesome to do and see. I want to give more time and effort to belly dancing to get better at it, because this WON’T be my last time.     Veil is a challenging prop. I have a love/hate relationship with mine 😟. It's beautiful but sometimes it has a mind of it's own. It will rebel at the most inconvenient time. I'm impressed that you handled it so well for a beginner 👍. I think you'd look pretty fierce dancing with a sword. Get a solid foundation of essentials, it will be beneficial as you start your dance journey. Explore and find the styles that you like by taking classes with different teachers and watching YouTube performance videos - the good, the bad, and the ugly 😱. It's all beneficial in learning what to do, and what not to do. To show respect for the dance, learn about the culture, the music, and the people. Doing so will help you internalize the dance and elevate your experience beyond just doing the moves. If you can't find classes locally, thanks to the internet you can take classes remotely online or there are plenty of instructional videos on YouTube.
