dr. worm: - they call him dr. worm - interested in things - not a real doctor - a real worm - an actual worm - lives like a worm - likes to play the drums - thinks he's getting good - can handle criticism - someday someone else besides him will call him by his stage name

there's such a beauty in this song that sneaks up on you without warning. it starts as a worm showing you his love for drumming anf its a little bit cute, a little bit funny, but then the worm starts singing with such soul how one day the world will love his music and call him by his name. you realize that he's singing about being recognized, beinf able to be the person he wants to be. it makes you realize that he's more than just a worm with a hobby, and it makes you love him for it. fantastic songwriting

That solo vocal is so heartbreaking. Poor guy. I hope somebody else besides him will call him by his stage name too.

amazing how a song that doesn't have a single rhyme in it can sound so damn good
  • @trinalps
it’s funny to think of this as an earworm when it’s stuck in your head
  • @rb4121
I do love how the line "[...] I'm twirling the stick" indicates that due to the lack of limbs, he can only ever wield a single drumstick which I assume he just wraps his entire body around - true dedication.

Important reminder that: - I’m not a real doctor - I am a real worm - I am an actual worm
  • When you realize that even Rabbi Mole, Dr. Worm's bandmate & supposed friend, doesn't refer to Dr. Worm as Dr. Worm.

Everyone is over here with their deep theories and explanations of the song and my little brain is like "he cant hear the doorbell becuz hes a worm"

This song has always left me feeling sad, there's something oddly melancholic about it.
  • its not just about someone who is lonely, longing to be recognized for the hobbies he has spent time getting talented at.. its about finding love and friendship, and standing out, at all in this lonely world and being appreciated as an individual. its not about being egotistically recognized for getting good and being worshiped as a rockstar.. its about the human connection and feeling valued at all. fuckin SLAPS

I like to imagine that they're a worm on a string, but that's just me.
  • @DocWolph
This could be the theme for a really random cartoon or anime.
  • @JMein13074
I can ABSOLUTELY picture Gonzo of the Muppets singing this.
