Prosecutors have charged a 26-year-old man with homicide after he allegedly punched the manager of a Santa Monica bar, leading to his death, according to authorities.

The Santa Monica Police Department said officers responded to the 2700 block of Main Street, outside of Jameson's Pub, at about 12:05 a.m. Tuesday morning on reports of a battery. The investigation found that the manager of Jameson's Pub asked several patrons to leave. After that, police say one of the patrons punched the manager, leaving him unconscious.

KTLA's Sandra Mitchell reports on June 13, 2024.

Had a friend whose dad worked law enforcement at a prison. And he said if people knew how many guys were behind bars over throwing a punch 🤛🏻 and “accidentally” killing another person, they’d think twice about being a tough guy.

We live in an age where 26 year-olds have not mentally developed past childhood.

If he lived in Palmdale, that's a 120 mile round trip, just to make a living. Rest in Peace sir.

He will be crying in court, and squealing in jail.

Five years ago, in a road rage incident in San Bernardino, California, a 31-year-old career criminal sucker punched a 70-year-old sheriff who died when his head hit the concrete sidewalk. Then he fled in his truck. When he was caught, he was able to plead guilty to only voluntary manslaughter (as well assault and "threatening a crime"). He got only 10 years. Goes to show you how lenient the DA and courts have gotten over the last few years. If someone like that got only 10 years, image what this guy will get when his lawyer claims "the alcohol made him do it".

"Overserved customers"?? That's an interesting choice of words... Sounds like something a defense attorney might say...
  • In Australia the legal term is called a coward punch. Because only cowards do this kind of thing.
