  • I think that’s the most impressive acting from a child I’ve ever seen. There’s more nuance in her face than a lot of adults bring to set.

I love how ironic it is that the rubbing of the balloon caused the trigger and not the pop itself like most people would assume
  • It never dawned on me that the balloon was triggering his PTSD, I always figured he was just being short with her but you can see in his eyes he’s not angry, he’s terrified.

The fact they used no music and by that I literally mean NO music, it makes the scene WAYY more realistic and drives us to be more sympathetic towards his ptsd and help us be put into his shoes

As soon as that girl said “and you were in stupid Afghanistan” she would’ve gotten scolded by the whole table by the loved ones. The fact they all sat in silence after hearing that was so frustrating.
  • Isabells actress is doing her job so damn well that first moment when everyone just turns back to talking about the nursing stuff and she just looks so close to tears... amazing acting.

I had a professor (veteran) who would hit the floor when someone's watch beeped. By the time I was in his class, he was able to just stop for a moment then continue teaching. It seemed cruel when students knew he had PTSD and set their watch to go off in class.

It does kinda sound like distant gunfire

One of these days I'll finally watch this movie outside of YouTube clips

The fact he's not scared he's terrified just hits different

I use to work with a Veteran who was in Afghanistan as well, and he had some severe PTSD as well. One of the nicest guys too, super chill, joked around and loved to discuss comic books and geek out. One day another coworker dropped a large box that had some hardware and stuff inside and it was close to us (we sat next to each other, cubicles were in front of each other), and it was a SUPER loud bang. When that happened, the veteran coworker literally turned around and had the angriest, scariest look on his face and he started yelling at the guy "WTF IS THE MATTER WITH YOU, DONT DO THAT" you could see he wasnt really angry at the guy for dropping a box, but more so angry that he was terrified and it reminded him of the sounds hed hear over there.

Sounded like distant gunfire & a little bit like what C-RAM in action sounds like
  • @sstaners1234
As a veteran with PTSD, this is exactly what it’s like. I went off on loved ones over something similar. Afterwards you feel horrible.

Wow that little girl was an amazing actress for someone her age.
  • @PrestonRōnin
Not only did his own daughter ask why he couldn’t stay dead, but his wife slept with his brother.. Rough.

Isabel is a really well-written character. She seems like a selfish brat, but really she's suffering from not having had a father for years, plus, she's a kid and can't possibly understand what her father has been through, so it leads to this tension between them.

You know the child did a good job acting when you can feel anger, huge props to her!
