"Dave, I would have taken a bullet for you." -That gets me every time! Dave is truly one of the most underrated, heartfelt and fantastically written movies. I love it! Also, Kevin Kline is one of the most underrated actors of our time. Wish he had done more after the '90s.
  • "I would've taken a bullet for you." Simple, sincere... That line...is the hallmark of what it means to be a good leader. When those you lead aren't commanded to do what needs to be done, or because they feel a sense of obligation or compulsion, but because they WANT to...because your leadership is worthy of their effort.

I love Ving Rhames in this. He goes from, "I'm here." To, "Do you think a sweater vest would look good on me?" And then him being in the campaign office at the end! Chef's kiss. It was such a nuanced performance that deserves a lot more credit.

"I would have taken a bullet for you." One of the best lines that makes my heart melt every time I hear it.

Kevin Kline won the Oscar for Fish Called Wanda in 1988, five years later, after several ensemble pieces he finally graduated to leading man in this film. Just a good wholesome film.

Frank Langella is so good in this. He makes Bob believably intimidating without becoming a cartoon villain. I really wish the problems in the US were simple enough that they could be solved by good people sitting down together and talking things out.

Kevin Kline is fantastic actor. He actually won an Oscar for playing Otto in "A Fish Called Wanda". He was in a great western with Kevin Costner and Danny Glover called "Silverado".

"Uh-oh. Where'd your friends go Bob?" Love it! And I've loved this movie for a long time. This was a fun watch-a-long. Thanks!
  • @Blazingstoke
I love the sheer numbers of real-life personalities who got cameos, from celebrities like Arnold Schwartzenegger and Oliver Stone, to politicians like Tip O'Neill, even to the reporters in the press room. Such a who's who of early '90s politics

President Dave Kovic/bill mitchell: โ€œshe hates me.โ€ Chief of staff and communications director: YES!
  • @BigAl53750
Carrie: โ€œOkeh, okeh, okeh.โ€ Carrie is now Leo Getz!
  • I canโ€™t believe it took this long for her to finally see Dave. I knew she would love it.

It makes me so happy that you watched this. Not many people even know this movie exists. This came out when I was a jaded 16yr old, and I so wanted to have a president like this as well. Great reaction

Kevin Kline has so much range. He makes a great villain (like Otto) but also a romantic lead, dramatic lead, and he's very funny when he wants to be. Great actor, all around. And Sigourney is an icon. I love this movie.

Props to Frank Langella, he always adds a touch of class to a film. He can terrify onscreen without even trying. Great work from the whole cast, really, and Laura Linney looks so stunning!

Kevin Kline, who plays the President and Dave, is one of my favorite actors. He is an award-winning actor on stage and screen. Some of his best movies: - Silverado - A western, he plays a gunslinger with a heart of gold, in a cast including Scott Glenn, Danny Glover, Kevin Costner, Jeff Goldblum, and John Cleese. - The Big Chill - A group of college friends reunite after one of their own takes his own life. Lots of amazing music - The Pirates of Penzance - Gilbert and Sullivan's operetta takes a tough comic turn with a huge cast. Kline reprises his Tony Award-winning role as The Pirate King, with the rest of the original, Broadway cast: Linda Ronstadt, Rex Smith, George Rose, and Tony Azito. The only one who is not the original cast is Angela Lansbury as Ruth. - In & Out - As a beloved high school teacher in a small town outed on the Academy Awards telecast by a former student who just won Best Actor. Tom Sellick, Debbie Reynolds, Joan Cusack, and Matt Dillon. - A Fish Called Wanda - Written and starring Monty Python member John Cleese, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Python member Michael Palin. Kline won the Best Supporting Actor Oscar. - Grand Canyon - An ensemble drama with Kline, Mary McDonnell, Danny Glover, and others. - De-Lovely - A musical fantasia/biography of composer-lyricist Cole Porter with Kline as Porter. Ashley Judd plays his wife. Lots of great songs from the 20s, 30s, 40s, and 50s written by Porter. - French Kiss - A rom-com with Meg Ryan...Kline plays the French leading man. - Soapdish - A huge ensemble comedy with Sally Field, Whoopi Goldberg, Robert Downey, Jr, and Elizabeth Shue. Behind the scenes of a TV soap opera. - Chaplin - A biopic of Charlie Chaplin starring Robert Downey, Jr. as Chaplin. Kline plays silent film star Douglas Fairbanks, one of Chaplin's closest Hollywood friends. There are about 15 other solid films he's made. Silverado, The Big Chill, Grand Canyon, and French Kiss are all films written and/or directed by Laurence Kasdan

The lady reporter is (real life reporter) Helen Thomas. She's been covering nearly every presidential press conferences since John F. Kennedy.-"Thank you Mr. President" was her tag line.
  • @sueacord1678
You are not the only one who would like someone like Dave as POTUS.
