I’d just like to give a big thank you to you personally David for sharing your advice and guidance on YouTube. Due to your channel I had my first VIP customer yesterday Who wants his cars to have a maintenance valet every 3-4 weeks after carrying out a full valet first. Thank you! I really appreciate the time and effort you put into your channel you have been a great help!
  • Top video, loved it. So honest, but informative. One to keep and watch over again.
  • Great information here. Absolutely SPOT ON. I've fell victim to almost every product you bring up in this video and you are definitely telling the truth my friend. Most practical information about detailing this year! If you are a weekend warrior or just getting started in detailing........LISTEN TO THIS MAN! He is giving great information here. Every time I go into my garage.......I cringe......because I have a serious problem watching YouTube and then thinking "Oh man...I NEED this......and as quick as possible too! or "There goes that wallet going empty again!". I recently got to a point in my life where I just want to get rid of every single product (with the exception of a few quality ones I use all the time) and completely clean out my garage. Another sickness I had(have) is with microfibers! My wife is like "Do you really need 500 microfibers?!" Yeah......she speaks the truth once again. I have surmised that I really just want to find a good quality product line (one company) and purchase the basics needed to detail my vehicles from that product line. Keep it all in a cabinet neatly in the garage. Something like Optimum, Koch Chemie, Swissvax, Polishangel, Autoglym,.......or whomever. I am an enthusiast so I don't mind paying a premium if the product line is really good. But I truly need to consolidate down to the basics of everything including my tools, etc.

I'm a detailer, working out of my shop, but I use a cordless Stihl leaf blower for drying. It's insanely fast, and I think it could be good for you mobile guys, because maintenance drying cars with good protection takes literally a couple minutes. 👍✌

This channel is a gold mine, touching subjects no one wants to talk about or share but you go there and give us strength not to be pushed around. Good tools cost money which I think customers don’t realise then it takes skill and time to get the finish they want which is not always recognised. One thing I am struggling with is how do you go about getting a website so I can get listed with google business . Plus do you offer driveway training days so people can get hands on experience with yourself (similar to what car cleaning Guru offers) something I definitely would take up!

Good to impart some of that life wisdom you have collected along the way Dave. The simple formula though is 'don't buy cheap'. We've all done that and I am sure have bought stuff (I know I have) that turned out to be mostly pointless, either through deficient quality or lack of return through low use. Eventually (assuming possession of enough brain cells) we funnel down to the 'good stuff' and carry on from there. Making mistakes has it's upside too. You learn from them (the bigger the cost of mistake = the greater chance of learning from it). ... and yeah - those air fresheners do not last ... and smell crap ... mostly :) Big thumbs up Dave!
  • Dave some good advice as always, totally agree about cheap brushes, we’ve all done it and learnt!
  • @sinanemati88
Bloody love this channel & the fb group. Spot on, hats off to you!!!
  • @markslater3594
Nice one dave have done regret buying myself just keep it as simple as possible doing a great job is my tip 👍cheers for another awesome video.
  • @pmbrowny
great video as always Dave, yes I've learned my lesson with cheap wheel brushes too, the amount of stress and strain those things go through means you definately need to buy the more expensive ones as they will last a hell of a lot longer.
  • @ruttl1
Dave I enjoy watching your videos and I started watching your channel about 7 months ago so I am catching up on them. You mention air freshners and I sprayed a strawberry scent in a client's Corvette it smelled nice. I found out later that the client was allergic to Strawberries and I had to go back and use an ozone generator to get rid of the scent. Great tips and it's funny to see how many detailers buy all the stuff you mentioned and the latest and greatest toys. Your knowledge and experience is very helpful the mistakes you made in your business will help others be successful and avoid these mistakes. Have a wonderful day and another great video.
  • @karl3927
Thanks for the video Dave 👍. Yeah I've made the same mistake with cheap wheel brushes and woolies. Age old adage buy cheap buy twice.

I have recently purchased a warm air dryer, it is really good for removing water from door shuts , grills, engine bays etc. It also works really well on coated cars, just chases the water away. But I agree that it is slower so I only use it on the high end maintenance details where my time is priced accordingly and not on the run of the mill valets.
  • Great video and a good few laughs in there as a bonus. 'Smells like a Wetherspoons toilet' - brilliant. LOL!
  • @djsiuk
Wow this video is brilliant. The part on the rubbish foam pads made me laugh as I’ve learnt the hard way whilst been a tight wad. My car dryer (GT) was the best thing I ever bought as it couples as dog dryer also, hehhehe. I agree I wouldn’t use a dryer in a valeting service.
  • Yes Dave all great advice and tips yet again. Using my dryer only for the Range Rover rear windscreen wiper as water always runs. Have all the Yum stuff now so those products and brushes are the best. There lemon deodoriser is the nuts and have bulk purchased.
