2022 Porsche Macan 1:37.413 at Harris Hill Raceway (H2R) - CCW

I have always ignored the Macan as a family SUV for people who just want to drive a Porsche. After driving one on the street I'm impressed with the serene NVH in the cabin, quality finish & material, and sleek looks. I then decided to take the SUV to the track to explore its limits, since it checks all the boxes for a street vehicle.

Unfortunately, I came to find out that the track is not a place for the Macan to shine, or at least at its base model. The vehicle is set up to push like HELL in almost every type of corner. Reminds me of people's complains about Audi being so pushy at the limit. Guess both makes are owned by Volkswagen so that's why...

In the rare cases where I was able to get the car rotate, the car actually feels quite predictable. I think it's the wayyy-too-smart ECU that prevents drivers to do so. The car would also cut off power during corner-exit, which hinders the use of 4WD.

My conclusion is that the ECU simply don't like the vehicle to be driven on track, and yet mechanical-wise, the vehicle is quite capable, especially as a SUV. Oh and let's not forget that it has the best automatic transmission ever made - the PDK. I've always enjoyed the pop at upshifts...
