The 2022 Toyota GR86 is the purest no-frills affordable sports coupe on sale today at a starting price of under $30,000 US. With a naturally aspirated boxer engine putting out 228 HP and 184 lb-ft of torque the new 86 takes from the original recipe and perfects it. Gone are the days of torque dip, but the easy-to-kick out back end and razor-sharp handling are here to stay. How does it stack up to the previous generation? And what about the competition… Watch! • “I’m 29 and I own a Miata”. We all felt that James. We all felt that.
  • When James says his name, he sounds like he just learned it. And he's so excited by it

I'm so fucking happy i get to go outside and look at mine every day before going to work. Put just over 10k miles on it, went on a 1200+ mile road trip over one long weekend, even took it camping. This car just FEELS right to drive every day.

This intro is officially Goated! 🐐
  • @joyroc885
James: I own a Miata. Everyone else: So brave.
  • @seanmellon4094
I love the simplicity - i hope that trend catches on, less piano gloss, less clutter, just usable good space
  • This was the funniest into I've seen in a long time, the Gaplebee's card was perfect lmao. But I have to say it's annoying how many people are comparing the Z to this car when they're in two completely different price points. For that matter let's all say how slow the Z is compared to the Vette?
  • So like... can we appreciate how solid that lap time is? Miles ahead of a Golf R, Veloster N, MX-5, and in spitting distance of a Civic Type R? For 30k? That's impressive!
  • @StevenMarz
That intro was great 😂 Whenever I am in my BRZ everyone wants to race, but when I am in my Scat Pack no one wants to race lol

so happy to see all the positive reviews for the GR86/BRZ. I've always been a fan of these cars and I'm glad they kept the formula and improved upon it where it was needed. I hope to one day own one.
  • Amazing video! I’m glad that there’s media like yours to bring relatable, practical car owner’s concerns as well as seasoned perspectives, conversations and pushing cars to their full potential to show us their mettle put to test. This channel’s awesome, thanks, safe travels.

The intro was perfect. I would have said "I pulled up next to an expedition max platinum and got destroyed by a 6,000 pound mom SUV.
  • @lbnewell23
THE BEST INTRO YET 😂😂😂😂😂 And the torque dip 😂
  • @Little6
You guys are really amazing. Out of all online reviews for this new GR86, your video was the only one I could finish in one sitting. Thank you.
  • @sciros
Really like that all-out GR version you showed. Yep, these cars are supposed to be "underpowered" in the sense that once you are comfortable with it at its limit, you tune it. These are modern tuner cars. There's no point in having a 400hp one out of the factory.

You can always tell when the embargo on cars is lifted because of multiple notifications. This was the one I was most excited to see and had to be watched first.
  • @chrisdblue
“Choosing between them is like choosing a favorite child, something only my dad seems to have mastered 😢” 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

This week saw a lot of good GR86 video reviews. This is the best one. Very entertaining and from a production value technical sense, near perfection.

I really wanna see a comparison between gr86 and a gt86 with headers and a tune. That's been a popular way to fix the torque dip and boost power for years. Unfair since we'll probably be able to do that to the gr shortly after release, but I wanna see how close current owners can get.
