"Check oil level" let's fire it up anyway and then rev it to 3-4k 😢
  • Ministry of Sound 80's... that's a good one, definitely keep that 😂

22:34 P0016 Camshaft, Crankshaft correlation means that the timing chain has stretched and the engine is out of time. You got off lightly with that one.
  • Matt buys an absolute nail and gets lots of views on YouTube no profit - Matt Wins. Matt buys a good car not many views on YouTube, Matt makes a good profit at sale time - Matt Wins. Overall Matt Wins. Keep up the good work buying the dross to entertain us!
  • I own a vw golf 6 1.4 tsi for 15 years .Bought it new in 2009 . 148.000 km . No mechanical or engine problem so far . Only fault in all those years the mechanism that opens the boot and the light switch . I just service it on program , change tires etc... No problems so far. Maybe I am one of the few lucky ones ,what can I say... Very good car.
  • I like the fact Matt has a tyre depth gauge finger accurate to the half mil😀
  • @ohrsome
Even by your own very high standards that was a superb partridge quote

Why have I now reached the point where I now look for the Wonder Grip van on each video? 😁😁 It's not there this time!!! This one would clean up. A good sound Golf always sells..... Oh dear, not this one it seems.... Spares or repair?

I agree about the light misting on the shocks, I had a MK7 Golf, the first MOT I had done at Halfords (it was close to work) advised light misting on shocks, the following year I took it to my normal MOT Station and no advisory, when I asked about it, he told me that it's not an issue, it would only be a problem if it was a thick film of oil indicating a blown seal

Crankshaft position sensor from reading is nice way of saying timing chain

  • @DunkRed5
Headlamp buff, new plates and a massive overspend? Yes please!
  • I have the estate version of that gen of the Golf, and I love it. So much car for me. 2.5 litre 5 cylinder, 5speed manual, no turbo, no nothing strange. Hope to keep for a pretty long time.

I often wonder what you would think of my 13 plate Focus 1.6 TDCi Titanium with 207k, no advisories, well maintained (some of it feels like trigger's broom), almost full service history from the same non franchise garage with plenty of minor war wounds but spotless inside! It sometimes does 1,000 miles a week.... Still getting 650 miles plus on 50 litres.

Got a Mk5 2 litre petrol I use for a runaround (its already got parking dings from people opening their doors into it) & the paint is atrocious from it living outside in its previous lives. Goes great. Never misses a beat. Sounds like I got really lucky..
