Friday's 4.8 magnitude earthquake made history in the Tri-State Area; it was the strongest in the state of New Jersey since 1783. People felt the shaking up and down the East Coast, from Washington to Maine. CBS New York had team coverage all day.

  • I live in Philadelphia on the top floor of a high rise apartment building and the building bounced like it was on a trampoline !!! I wasn't frightened but it felt strange. Thank God that no lives were lost.

Here’s the question nobody saying what if this is a foreshock before a major bigger quake because they have had multiple earthquakes less than a month in exact same area I’m from California and I’ve seen it happen over and over and over again for shocks comes before the main quake I hope that’s not the case because if that is those homes and buildings do not meet earthquake standards like in California and a lot of people could get injured or die. I’m not trying to be a fearmonger or a person to make people afraid I’m giving out the facts. This could be just a 4.8 quake itself with aftershocks or could be a four shock quake to something that’s bigger yet to come, that’s simply the fact, but thank God everybody is OK. No one was killed or injured like in Taiwan, but be ready and be prepared anyway because we simply don’t know what we all happen in the future.
  • I was in San Diego and felt the big LA earthquake. Then I watched the cars being crushed when over passes fell. I was young but still hold my breath over bridges.

It’s not like there’s condemned buildings and parking garages in NYC right now.
  • at 4;21 minute mark mentions news detail of long ago earthquake strength 5.3 happened way back on Nov. 29 in 1783-- so how can they know that one was a level 5.3 ?
