  • So I'm not 100% sure I have everything, but I hopped on a test world with World Edit and tried to gather all the materials needed for the build for those of you wanting to build it in survival, and here's what I have come up with, again sorry if I missed anything it is just a rough estimate. Block Count Stacks Barrels 5 Building blocks 485 (7 +37 blocks) Cake 1 Cauldron 1 Chests 556 (8 +44 blocks) Comparators 312 (4 +56 blocks) Composters 74 (1 +10 blocks) Detector Rails 4 Dispenser 1 Droppers 107 (1 +43 blocks) Glass 299 (4 +43 blocks) Hoppers 462 (7 +14 blocks) Hopper Minecart 1 Lava Bucket 1 Note Blocks 10 Observers 29 Piston 1 Powder Snow 1 Powered Rails 111 (1 +47 blocks) Rails 76 Redstone Blocks 11 Redstone Dust 258 (4 +2 blocks) Redstone Lamps 47 Redstone Torches 43 Repeaters 11 Shulker box 1 Slabs 193 (3 +1 blocks)

Here's a list of building materials, I apologize if I miss something Edit: I now know that Spencer Landis did the same thing I just did not know at the time TOTAL BUILD MATERIALS: Needed (This list includes optimized composters, redstone blocks not levers, less than 15 long chest arrays, nonsolid lamp ind., and debugging lever): 147 (2s + 19) glass blocks (-1/2 if not needed for rail test) 87 (1s + 23) stackable items 75 (1s + 11) rails 69 (1s + 5) hoppers 57 solid blocks 46+ renamed 64x stackable items 38 redstone dust 33 composters 31 observers 28 chests 25 comparators 24 powered rails 20 droppers 16 unstackable items 13 redstone torches 12 slabs 10 repeaters 9 note blocks 5 redstone blocks (+1/2 if needed for rail test) 5 items 4 detector rails 3 barrels 2 containers (barrels used in video) 2 cakes 2 redstone lamps 1 hopper minecart 1 lever 1 shulker box (or other similar container) 1 dispenser 1 piston 1 sticky piston 1 powder snow bucket 1 cauldron 1 lava bucket Per Slice of Chests: 55 renamed 64x stackable items 12 chests 9 hoppers 6 solid blocks 6 comparators 5 glass blocks 5 redstone dust 4 slabs 3 unstackable items (or 64 renamed stackable items) 2 powered rails 2 droppers 1 item 1 composter 1 redstone torch any number of 64x stackable items, -1 renamed stackable item any number of 16x stackable items, -4 renamed stackable items 1 redstone dust (per every 2 slices) 1 comparator (per every 2 slices) INDIVIDUAL SECTIONS: Tutorial Begins (per slice) (1:38): 1x3x5 10 chests 5 hoppers The Core (2:26): 5x10x7 7 droppers 10 hoppers 7 observers 30 solid blocks (concrete used in video) 3 note blocks 11 comparators 15 redstone dust 5 repeaters 2 containers (barrels used in video) 12 unstackable items (shears used in video) 87 (1s + 23) stackable items (stone buttons used in video) 4 chests 1 cake 1 redstone block (+1/2 if needed for rail test) 39 glass blocks (-1/2 if not needed for rail test) (-1 if replaced by composter [shown at 19:08]) (NOTE: THE GLASS BLOCK AT 9:31 WILL BE REMOVED LATER) 13 powered rails 9 rails 1 detector rail 1 slab (stone slab used in video) 6 redstone torches 1 hopper minecart 1 lever (optional for debugging) The Slices (5 parts) (12:45): Part 1: Sorting slices (per slice) (12:45): 1x8x7 4 glass blocks (originally 5 but 1 glass block will be replaced by a slab [see 15:01]) 2 powered rails 3 solid blocks (green concrete used in video) 3 redstone dust 5 comparators 2 droppers 2 chests 4 slabs (stone slabs used in video) (originally 3 but 1 slab will be placed in the place of a glass [see 15:01]) 4 hoppers 1 item (fern used in video) Part 2: Modifications 1 (not per slice) (15:19): 1 detector rail (replaces 1 powered rail from above) 1 redstone block (or 1 solid block and 1 lever) (replaces 1 glass block from above) Part 3: Unsorted slices (2 slices) (15:45): 2x3x7 22 chests (-20 if using chests from the Tutorial Begins section) 12 hoppers (-10 if using hoppers from the Tutorial Begins section) Part 4: Connecting the Rails (16:40): 4x2x5 7 glass blocks 1 redstone block 6 powered rails 2 rails Part 5: Modifications 2 (not per slice) (17:05): 1 glass block 1 redstone torch Finishing the Unloading System (will be REVISED) (17:25): NOTE: (per slice) means that value for every slice you have, (not per slice) means that that material is only needed once, if a material has both, treat them as separate items, sorry this part is just weird since it uses part of the modular storage system and the core part that only happens once 1 glass block (per slice) 1 comparator (per slice) 2 solid blocks (yellow concrete used in video) (not per slice) 1 solid block (yellow concrete used in video) (per slice) 2 redstone dust (not per slice) 1 redstone dust (per every 2 slices) 1 comparator (per every 2 slices) 1 note block (not per slice) 3 observers (not per slice) 1 dropper (not per slice) 1 hopper (not per slice) 5 items (ferns used in video) (not per slice) 1 redstone lamp (per slice) 3 composters (not per slice) (+1 if replacing glass placed in the Core) 1 composter (per slice) Configuring Chests (Balancing) (per slice) (19:09): 3 unstackable items (shears used in video) (ALTERNATIVELY, use 64 stackable items with the same requirements as the below stackable items) 55 stackable items (must stack to 64) (must be renamed) any number of items that you want to sort out that stack to 64, replace the stackable items from above any number of items that you want to sort out that stack to 16, replace 1 stackable item from above and remove 3 others First real test! • Very nice tutorial! Just spent the last few weeks building this in my and my sons survival world... had to work through a few dumb mistakes (on my part) but for the most part I had no real issues... that is a huge testament to how awesome this tutorial is since I'm pretty much a redstone noob. I have also learned a TON about restone building this. Can't thank you enough for making this, THANK YOU!! P.S. came here from Xisuma and ImpulseSV videos
  • @telendar_
Excellent multi item sorter! I actually finished building this today and it was driving me crazy that the chests for the items categories were losing items when they tried to filter for those items. After watching the tutorial I realized I hadn't adjusted for 16 stackables. So that will probably fix it!
  • @stormdance056
Just finished putting this together on my survival world! My advice - however many comparators you think you'll need, get at least one more stack. They are easily the most common component in this build.
  • @fridley
Glad this is finally up. Was trying to make it with Litematica and it was taking ages. Thanks for going into such detail
  • @annnnonnymous
Nice, I built one of the older versions a while back, this will be going on the new 1.19 world for sure. Thanks for the great work and easy to follow video!
  • Just finished building the sorter.. Did a 12-19-12 setup with 2 rows of unsorted items. Did some troubleshooting but thanks to your clear explanation of the different systems it was not to difficult.
  • @lurenno
I was so excited waiting for this tutorial. The best sorter system
  • @herrneumayr
Super nice designed build. I completely took it apart and reassembled for my needs w/o problems, basically just by looking at it. Currently filtering all my stuff. Which means your design is awesome, very satisfying :)
  • @Danbearpig
Dang, this is so good! I came here after seeing xisuma make a version of it, and I think this will be perfect for my mega base as well as a fantastic exercise to improve at redstone. Thanks for making such a good tutorial! Even at this length, it is concise and easy to follow.
  • @fyrye
Thanks for sharing your work! The setup also works in 1.16.5. Minus the Lava Cauldron for the Anti-Filter protection, replaced with dumping a Lava Bucket into a glass encased hole and minus the Powdered snow for the Shulker Box unloader, no replacement just walled off with glass but scaffolding might work as a substitute.
  • @allan_w6225
This sorter is absolutely crazy! Great design!
  • @Chronogem
Thank you sir, for the work you've done here. I used to play more in 1.16, and with all the delays for 1.17 - 1.19 (plus irl things) I had to stop. Back then I searched for a multi-sorter and found good results but not quite what I wanted (fear of the system breaking due to random lags/ what type of chunk I placed it in/ or simply too slow of a system when made larger). It discouraged me from building any at all. Thank you, for making such a system that is essentially the normal item sorter we all know and love With the additive of multi sorting While still having overflow protection While still being good speed While being basically silent While accounting for me to accidentally put filter items back in -.- Without needing slot reservation!! (Your comment to Gnembon from your video with the prototype of this system really showed me you're thinking about everyone....my builder friends with no redstone knowledge would gladly use this system and I would happily build it for them!!!) And this tutorial as well, thank you again You covered everything even though you didn't "have" to What if even slices? What if odd slices? Btw here's a shortcut for the minecart so its not slow. Shulker boxes? Unstackables? 16 stack items? Rails not in the right direction? Btw you can put lamps per slice so its even cooler!!! What an absolute madlad you are, thanks is not enough :) You left us with the hardest job though.....organizing our categories and getting all the wood!! XD
  • Just did in my vanilla survival, maaaan it took me 8 hours. But I’m happy! : ) This is an awesome work!
  • @amdkillaplays
If you want the lamps above the input chest to stay on instead of flash, remove the observer, redstone torch and Comparator that is powering them currently. Then place a piece of redstone dust underneath the observer that powers downwards that's part of the big item elevator. Have that connect to a Repeater on 2 ticks, pointing into a Repeater on 4 ticks and it will give you a continuous output while the elevator is being used. Then run this up to the lights without powering anything accidentally and your lamps will stay solid lit while items are transferring
  • @gewoonmarjo
Oefs, what a monster of a tutorial for a brilliant system! And that in creative when you are a bit more nimble while placing everything. I kinda fear the grinding and building of it in survial, but also look forward to it at the same time. Thanks for the effort you put into this!
  • @hoshxhosh
Omg, I just started building this again in my new world yesterday and finished it now. Still troubleshooting and now you upload. This would be of big help for me. Thank you.
