I often wake up in the morning wondering about Super Mario Odyssey and the Wait for More Mario 🤔

Miyamoto wasn't actually directly involved with Odysseys' developement. The game was produced by Yoshiaki Koizumi and Koichi Hayashida, and it was directed Kenta Motokura. He would only ocasionaly give feedback on concepts brought up by the developers.

This is why Nintendo is my favorite gaming company. Regardless of whatever strange business decisions, crummy joy-con bugs, or pay-to-play online, one thing they're usually pretty consistent with is making high quality well-polished mainline titles. Mario, Zelda, even smaller franchises like Pikmin, they all have a fairly consistent level of quality that most game companies struggle to achieve. While most Triple A games are buggy messes, with Nintendo games you have to try in order to find any bugs because you likely won't find many during a standard playthrough.

I think Odyssey 2 is definitely out of picture and its going to be completely new 3D Mario game for the Switch 2 on launch year that would be hype! It does make me wonder why didn't they it would of sold really well or even just doing a big DLC. Nintendo are very weird one moment they are being pretty greedy with the Nintendo switch online expansion pricing then the next they refuse to do DLC for TOTK and Mario Odyssey just because the devs don't want to despite millions of dollars being left on the table.

i agree the movement is the best it's been in odyssey, but i really don't feel like it makes up for how the 3D mario formula was changed. i really loved having 6 stars per world in galaxy and 64 for example, since they were almost all obtained in unique ways or via challenges. i like seeing new things and being pushed to excel at the game's mechanics, but odyssey's moons really don't do either of these for me. there's so many moons that any single moon doesn't feel meaningful to obtain, and they're typically obtained in such a way that doesn't take much effort, so they don't even feel intrinsically rewarding either. im not going to say it's a bad game but it's definitely not for me, it was the only 3D mario i wasnt able to 100% (or even finish normally for that matter) since the gameplay loop of finding moons felt so unrewarding to me whenever we do get another 3D mario game i hope it's the best of both worlds, with the movement system of odyssey (and possibly even a better movement system), but with a return to form in terms of level structure. i don't necessarily think it needs to be strictly 6 stars per level or anything, but i definitely hope the amount of stars skews more toward the past 3D mario games rather than odyssey's laundry list of moons, requiring much more effort to obtain because i feel like that's what makes it satisfying and reward to obtain a star
