Lainey Wilson, a rising country music icon, reflects on her early years in Nashville where she lived in a camper trailer, facing the challenges of being an outsider. Despite countless obstacles, including the tragic loss of her mentor, Lainey wrote an astounding 4,000 songs during these early years, forging her resilience and dedication to her craft.

Lainey sits down to discuss her formative years in Nashville – from the unique experience of living in a camper, the deep sense of loneliness she felt, to the sheer determination that prevented her from giving up even when all odds seemed against her.

📖 About Lainey Wilson:

Lainey Wilson burst onto the country music scene in 2022 with her album Sayin’ What I’m Thinkin’. That year, she won Female Vocalist of the Year and Best New Artist at the CMAs. But for seven years before that, she struggled to make it in the high-pressure Nashville music scene. And before *that*, she was a kid from a tiny town in rural Louisiana with a dream of being a country star. She joins Guy to talk about how she handled the hard times, what she’s learned about the art of collaboration during the making of two acclaimed albums, and what defines her unique style, which she calls Bell Bottom Country.

  • What a fabulous woman, raised by good, hardworking people. Love her hair, love her accent, love her voice, love her back story! You are amazing, Lainey!
  • @Denise-oz3sq
There are only a handful of country music stars like Lainey Wilson that have remained true to their roots, and stayed humble. Love her!
  • For her to go from growing up in a town of 200 people to living in her camper, trying to get people to listen to her songs and having the door slammed in her face.....To now being the reigning Entertainer Of The Year......That's pretty incredible right there. That's an act of God and personal perseverance wrapped up into one.

I’m 57 years old and always listen to country music, but Lainey is absolutely one of the best ever. Love you Lainey - so humble, so much hard work …..you are an angel, and it’s so well deserved this success you have. Big hugs from Denmark 🇩🇰
  • Lainey! Please do not let Nashville bullshit change you! We love you because of who you are and what you sing. I know you’ve already experienced what Nashville will try and change. First ,your looks and then your style to fit their mold. Stay true to yourself!!

I really like this woman! Lainey somehow reminds me of Dolly Parton and her work ethic, perseverance, voice, character, honesty, integrity. Truly admire you, Lainey. You’re the real deal.

Just discovered this by looking up more interviews of Lainey and I have to say it's so refreshing to see an interviewer who doesn't cut off their guests constantly and just lets them tell their stories. Seems like most people these days try to make it all about them, and not the guest they have on their show.

I am from British Columbia, Canada, just turned 80. I am now a big fan. I love your music and I love your home spun stories about your life and family. This is what makes you so great. You will be giving a concert in Vancouver in September 2024. Dolly Parton, Reba, Kenny Rodgers, have played in Vancouver.

Wow Lady Lainey, you are absolutely an amazing song writer. I am listening to your interview and I like how you use your father's work ethnic analogies to be persistent to continue in your path of a song writer and a singer. Wow 4000 songs, blows my mind.😊 you go girl. I love your songs. perhaps one day I will you in person.
