Friends, welcome to Meanwhile in the Garage!

Today, I'll show you how I made a transparent roof for my Yamaha YZF1000 R1 (152HP) motorcycle. For any biker, rain is a nightmare. You want to go out, sit with friends, but a sudden downpour ruins all plans.

I came up with a simple solution that will protect you from the rain and give you new sensations. I created a cabin concept that can be added to any motorcycle. The structure is easy to make and highly functional. Raindrops are repelled by the wind, and from inside, you get a beautiful view. Isn't this every biker's dream?

By the way, I used this bike in the previous video for the Hoverbike. Many said I ruined it, but in reality, I just used it. The bike wasn't harmed at all!

Share your opinion! How do you like this concept? What can be improved? Did you like the idea?

People like you ought to be given funding and workshops with all the tools you need because I am pretty sure people as skilled motivated and smart as you will save the world.

Great project! A couple thoughts why vacuum machine might not work properly: 1. Heated sheet must be moved and vacuumed very quickly, like in a second. As soon as sheet touches cold surface it freezes solid almost instantly. Possible solutions: preheat the mold, build a scissors mechanism to move sheet down uniformly and use softer thicker seals. Drop the sheet, valve, shhhh... done! 2. As you already mentioned, vacuum tanks should be several times bigger than the overall mold volume. Using a tank of the same volume as the mold basically means you will get -0.5 bar equalized pressure as soon as you open the valve. 3. Someone also mentioned plastic should be dried at 80 C to evaporate all the moisture out of it to prevent bubbling. Good luck!

Full Fairing. This should have happened long ago and much advanced by now due to people like this guy at the helm.

The problem is still crosswind and wet streets ... but i love the step forward you made there, we need alot more man like you ❤

  • interesting concept that came out pretty well... a few suggestions that might help if you ever do it again. >add a gas strut to the hinge mech on the canopy that way it will hold itself up when at petrol stations ect. >instead of trying to vac form try blowing a bubble. you wont need a buck to form the shape out of just a template to constrain the edge of the bubble to the shape you want. > the bubbles on the polycarb are from over heating it that's why it was hot spots where you're halogens are above. > maybe use rubber well nuts instead of rivets as you could bolt the panels on to the tabs which would make it easier to service/modify the design if you choose. > add a rubber pad under the release lever so it doesn't wear the paint on the tail and make it less likely for the latch to vibrate open at high speed. i love what you've done and appreciate you showing the successes and failures. great job as always

you guys don't know how much patience you need and dedication to achieve such greatness
  • Congratulation my friend, I passed some similar experiments and proyect with a motor's accesories for my duagther's motorcycle and some experiencing some little issues not as big than you have lived with this project. You are my best example for the life, never give up!
  • Your tenacity, creativity and hard work are so impressive. The journey is for me as breathtaking as the final products.

Your vacuum mold machine will have 1001 uses for your projects. Your skills are impressive. Great job !
  • A top tip, you need to dry the plastic in oven in 80 degrees celsius for 1 hour. All plastics contain little bit water, otherwise you will have bubbles. I have molded many times and had same problems in the beginning.😊

Idea for you: Collapse a sports car horizontally into an enclosed motorcycle. BTW I love how you document your failures in this video. A man should be honest about his mistakes and opens himself up to criticism, comment, and critique, all of which are necessary for growth and improvement. Bravo and well done.
  • @Hellfire4WD
dude literally made a tank last time... these inventions are getting better and better and honestly, I'd love to keep either one of them
  • @raulrrojas
not only it works, it looks fantastic! Man how I miss one of those some days , not only due to a rain, but also when freezing cool.
  • The last video I watched was you building a tank in your home garage. Now you have a proper workshop and brand new equipment and tool. Congrates and keep doing what you do best.
  • Happy to see I am not the only one how's got thing's happening when I building stuff. Sorry if my English is not perfect, as I am Dutch and never learned anything. Nicely done!!!
