When it comes to sheet metal work, there's only one way to do it right! Don't matter if it's for a motorcycle or truck! You are a master of the trade!
  • This is so cool , this is what would attract young ppl to these type of careers at young ages…more young ppl need to consider ‘trades’ as excellent career choices. Thanks to Mr Lane for bringing attention to this important career choice. This should be a part of career choice recruiting tool to advisers for young ppl…imo

Body work takes a special type of person to do well at it. I consider it magic when I see good body work, but it is mainly experience and patience. What a badass truck too.
  • Cars or motorcycle’s, it’s nice to see an actual video and not a short snap-shop of one.

There were at least 6 times during that video that I said, "Just get a new door". The fabrication skills you have are second to none.

Another great video Billy, can't wait for outlaw TV.

Nice job, Bill! Always love it when a craftsman brings stuff like this back from the dead. Well done!

My dad had a green and white C-10. We loved that truck. They are both gone now. Great memories in that truck.

  • My grandfather has a 67 shortbed. I learned to drive in that truck at 9 yrs old sitting on his lap. When i was 11, i was finally able to reach the pedals. Man i miss my grandfather so much. And that truck

Hey Billy, thanks for the tips and instruction, I thought I'd mention there's a utuber guy Karl Fisher, you may know about, Make it kustom, he's come up with a handheld planishing hammer, just thought I'd mention, would make that job like that a lot easier, thanks again, you've helped me with quite a few bits and tricks with my softail

Y`all make it look easy. It`s not. Your dedicated execution of craftmanship rocks. This is an example of why bodywork costs so much.

My goodness. The crap aftermarket parts we have to work with sometimes is aggravating. But I guess for beginners like me it's a great time to learn. Thanks for bringing us along. Have a great Christmas.

Wow, nice work. I had a '71 Chevy and a '72 GMC pickup. Wish I still had them.
  • @MrCackers
Great video Billy, thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience, very inspiring….

Nice job! I have been there many times with this aftermarket metal. Ive had the best luck with AMD for thicknesses and fitment.

The quality of these replacement panels is just junk these days. Really unfortunate because people that aren’t fabricators and awesome welders try and fix their own projects to learn and do it themselves but it ends up in a situation like this. You cut skin off and get to that point and most people can’t fix and finish it, so it ends up at a body shop where those people don’t know either and it gets a ton of bondo and glass and it’s crap. Takes a hotrod shop to fix it. Just sucks. Better to find a used door that is damaged or rusted in a different spot and cut that out. Awesome video. Billy you are a legend
