The Simpsons shorts are an American animated TV series of 48 one-minute shorts that ran on the variety television program The Tracey Ullman Show for three seasons, before the characters spun off into The Simpsons, their own half-hour prime time show. It features Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, and Maggie. The series was created by Matt Groening, who designed the Simpson family and wrote many of the shorts. The shorts first aired on April 19, 1987 starting with "Good Night". The final short to air was "TV Simpsons", originally airing on May 14, 1989. Homer didn't have that crayon in his brain back then

I find it kinda powerful how Bart is a character largely associated with simple, snappy, t-shirt friendly catchphrases; but when you go back and find his first ever lines, it was a really probing philosophical question.

Anyone notice how both Family Guy and Simpsons began with saner, mellow-voiced characters who became shriller and more outlandish in later series.

Marge's voice brings chills to my soul

Hard to believe these same people are still voicing the family 34 years later

"Relax, What is mind? No matter. What is matter? Never mind." That one always gets me lol
  • Lisa’s personality is very different, she’s no bookworm and is much more mischievous than she became in the proper series.

Old Homer: "We must be the best parents in the world." New Homer: "WHY YOU LITTLE... RAAAH!"

The Simpsons in the 80s Homer: Actual father material Marge: Not much different other than being a little unsettling Lisa: More like Bart Bart: Barely changed Maggie: Acts like a baby instead of just making sucking noises

Let’s hope Fox doesn’t take this down.
  • Homer’s voice: sound completely different Bart’s voice: sounds almost the same Lisa’s voice: sounds almost the same Marge’s voice: sounds a little different

I remember watching these for the first time when I was only 5 years old. My mom watched Tracy Ullman all the time and the Simpsons shorts were my favorite. I thought they were birds until my mom told me they were just "weird looking people". Time flies..
  • Bart is probably the only one that's voice has not changed the most.

We are witnessing the beginnings of a legendary family.

The jokes in the original shorts series are seriously clever, definitely a show that had a lotta potential from the get-go.

It's weird seeing Homer being more of just a kind of dumb guy instead of a very dumb guy.
